The Chemical Delivery Hazmat Driver will drive a tractor-trailer combination capacity of at least 80,000 GVW, to transport and deliver hazardous and non-hazardous materials in liquid, loose, or packaged form. You will be required to load and unload tanker, box truck, or flatbed. This position will be based out of Addison, Illinois.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Chemical Delivery Hazmat Driver, you will:
  • Support all Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs, policies, and regulations
  • Follow all applicable state and federal DOT regulations and follow appropriate safety procedures when transporting hazardous materials
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
  • Be responsible for scheduling both preventative and unplanned maintenance
  • Work with scheduler, customer sites, inventory planners and sales reps to obtain delivery instructions and schedule unloading
  • Secure cargo for transport, using straps, blocks, chain, binders, and/or covers
  • Deliver to all GE customers in the U.S. Midwest/North Central states including, but not limited to MI, IN, KY, TN, AK, MS, IL, WI, MN, IA, NE, KS, CO, WY, MT, SD, and ND.


  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience with class A CDL, hazardous materials transportation and driving a tractor-trailer combination


  • Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 95% of the time, as required
  • Ability and willingness to travel overnights, as required
  • Ability and willingness to possess and maintain a valid U.S. Passport and TWIC
  • Ability and willingness to possess and maintain Haz-Mat and Tanker Endorsements

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

  • Associate's Degree (2 year college or technical school)
  • Minimum of 5 years in hazardous materials transportation
  • Minimum of 5 years of driving a tractor-trailer
  • All-weather driving experience (heat, snow, ice, hail, sleet, rain, fog)
  • Experience with Freightliner or Kenworth tractor equipment
  • Forklift certification
  • Respirator fit tested
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Attention to detail and strong math skills
  • Strong computer skills
