Role synopsis
  • For one or more functional disciplines, generate a high quality, deliverable 8Q and 12-week functional schedule
  • Support integration of functional schedules into area schedules, schedules of other functions, and contractor schedules
  • Progress functional pre- and post-execution activities in Primavera
  • Optimise functional schedule to minimise risk and maximise value
  • For all significant plan/schedule changes, apply the Managed Change Process defined as part of the region's Activity Planning practices
  • Recommend on schedule deliverability and approval
  • Agree when to execute CAP activities to deliver Functional 8Q and 12-week Schedules within functional constraints
  • Recommend which activities to execute when the activity set exceeds functional constraints
  • Recommend waiver submission and approval • Build and maintain functional scheduling capability
  • Recommend development of AP Functional Schedulers and Activity SPAs

Key accountabilities
Provide AP Support to the Functional Manager
  • Support Functional Manager in long-term planning, ensuring the quality and completeness of scheduled activities. Provide assessment of schedule feasibility.
  • Liaise with Functional SPAs to break down Business Plan Elements (BPEs) into discrete Planning Level 1, 2 and 3 activities
  • Support the function in developing BPEs, Plan Change Proposals (PCPs) and decisions re: schedule changes
Ensure delivery of optimised Functional 8Q and 12-week Schedules that are integrated across Areas and Functions
  • Facilitate the Functional 8Q and 12-week Scheduling meetings
  • Ensure that the Functional 8Q Schedule is fully populated with BPEs and functional 8Q activities, and confirm it is deliverable within functional scheduling constraints
  • Ensure sufficient buffers between activities and allowances for emergent work
  • Identify and drive resolution of cross-functional resource conflicts
  • Identify all risks to delivery of the 8Q and 12-week Functional Schedules
  • Ensure that the agreed Functional Schedules are communicated
Own the scheduling process for a function
  • Lead and coach the AP Functional Schedulers re: AP and tools
  • Ensure functional scheduling processes are consistent with AP Upstream Practice
  • Drive standardisation and simplification of scheduling process in the function
Lead on the use of Primavera for a function
  • Drive consistency of Primavera usage across the function
  • Provide primary liaison between the AP Systems and Tools team and the function
Drive functional scheduling performance
  • Review AP KPI performance with functional leaders and others
  • Drive continuous improvement in functional scheduling performance
Contractor integration
  • Liaise with contractor planning teams to ensure alignment of BP and Contractor Plans and Schedules

Essential Education
High school diploma or GED (General Education Development certificate) plus 2-year Tech School or Associate Degree -- or equivalent experience

Essential experience and job requirements
  • Multiple years experience in Upstream Oil and Gas Industry
  • Planning & Scheduling
    • Significant understanding and experience with planning and scheduling concepts.
    • Understanding and experience in schedule integration across multiple groups and multiple time horizons. Technical
    • Working knowledge of planning and scheduling tools.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Management and Interpersonal
    • Strong organization, negotiation and influencing skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels and build sustainable beneficial relationships
    • Experience in leading or coordinating small teams.
    • Personal understanding and commitment to HSSE.
    • Demonstrated success working in high performance environments.
    • Bias for action; takes action before being asked or forced by events; anticipates future situations and plans ahead to meet challenges.
    • Proven ability to plan and schedule within constraints and recognize/ resolve conflicts.

Desirable criteria & qualifications
  • Experience in the use of Primavera scheduling software
  • Experience with resource allocation analysis and leveling
  • Broad operations and/or projects experience
  • BS degree in engineering, operations management, business or finance
