Position Summary

This position is for project activities at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL) site.

The Jacobs Environmental Compliance Coordinator (ECC) is accountable for implementation of the environmental compliance and waste management program for the Spent Fuel Handling Project and supervises other environmental staff (Waste Management and Chemical Management Coordinators). This position will report administratively to the Jacobs Environmental Manager for day to day project activites.

The ECC is responsible for ensuring requirements within the Jacobs Environmental Plan and related plans and procedures (Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) 2450 Manual Volume I and Volume II and 1665.70 compliant) are met. The ECC must also ensure requirements are fully implemented and executed. The ECC is responsible for ensuring the project is staffed with qualified and trained personnel and will be the primary interface with the client support organizations, including but not limited to the client Environmental Engineering, Waste Management, and training groups.

When notifications are required per the Jacobs Environmental Plan and NRF governing documents, notifications will be made through the ECC or delegated as documented within the Environmental Plan.

The ECC will also implement a self-assessment program where it pertains to environmental management as required in the NRF Environmental Management System.
  • Must maintain and enforce the Jacobs Beyond Zero safety program, ensure daily job site safety plans are reviewed and followed, and stop work when unsafe work practices or conditions exist
  • Must have the computer skills necessary to enable development of reporting spreadsheets, report preparation, and work with in-house and client databases
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned
  • Ability to lead projects and interface directly with customer/client
  • 10-15 years of environmental compliance experience required
  • BS or MS in an engineering or environmental science field required
  • Experience in preparing environmental permits, monitoring compliance with permit requirements, and supervising other environmental staff required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are required
  • The ideal candidate will have INL experience and a security clearance preferred
  • Enthusiastic, dependable, self-starter, who is organized and able to work effectively with minimal supervision preferred
  • Must have or be able to obtain a DOE security clearance
