Global Service / Technical and Operational

Support / WTG Engineering & Support WTG Engineering & Support is part of the Global Service Organization of Vestas. We are spread across the world supporting the Service and Construction organizations with technical knowledge and expertise. As a Technical Field Support Engineer you will be a key partner in improving customer satisfaction and Vestas turbine performance.

  • You will be part of a team though working in a fairly autonomous role to provide technical support to Service and Construction teams on diagnostics of wind turbines. Your tasks are mainly from (but not limited to) North and South East Asia and Pacific regions. You may also receive tasks from other regions of the world.
  • Provide 1st level technical support to Service and Construction and ensure continuous improvement of trouble shooting support within the service and construction operation.
  • Ensure thorough technical/statistical WTG stop analysis support incl. recommended spare parts for error remedy.
  • Provide and facilitate engineering support
  • Provide support to Construction in installation, commissioning and start-up of wind turbines
  • Provide support to service operation on resolution of turbine alarms / alerts.
  • At the request from Service/Construction, liaise with clients to facilitate resolution of technical issues to ensure increased customer satisfaction and support long-term business growth.
  • Liaise with other technical staff throughout the company (worldwide) as part of solving technical issues.
  • Provide trouble-shooting support to field technicians.
  • Actively convert knowledge into business value.
  • Analyze poor performing wind turbines / wind farms and provide solutions.
  • When needed identify spare parts and documentation
  • Push troubleshooting knowledge to the field by documenting knows solutions in Vestas Global Advisor (VGA)
  • Advise correct SW and parameter settings for windfarms.
  • Compile SW suggestions. Coordinate and give assistance in SW field test
  • Remote Software upload
  • Review Component Inspection Reports from field.
  • Create new CIM cases as required
  • Through technical support, and proactive assistance help service team competencies to fast track development of local technicians in new countries and japan.
  • Use WTG knowledge to support After Sales Technical Engineers.

  • Strong diagnostic technical skills with emphasis on root cause analysis
  • Able to multitask and prioritize daily work under a fast paced environment
  • Mulitilingual an advantage - English and any of the NSEA languages (Japanese/Thai/Korean).
  • High Level English is a requirement of the position.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks in accordance with business objectives.
  • Ability to develop networks internationally to develop own knowledge base and solve technical issues.
  • Experienced in dealing with often demanding customers.
  • Flexible, adaptable, problem solving.
  • Quick learner
  • Good communication and presentation skills
  • Detailed knowledge of Vestas WTG especially with kW or NM WTG an advantage.

  • Bachelor degree in Engineering Mechanical / Electrical (Master degree is advantageous)
  • 5-7 years' experience in trouble shooting and technical support in wind turbine industry
  • Fluency in written and spoken English language

Additional information:

Location - Currently Tokyo, Japan. Position may be moved to another other country in NSEA in the future.
Travel - Approximately 15-90 days of travel expected per year
