Recruiter (MARSOC West) Job Description:

The Recruiter shall provide support and have a complete understanding of all Marine Corps Forces Manpower issues related to Total Force Structure in order to manage the complexity of large pools of qualified working applicants. The daily use of the Recruiting Information System (RIS) database shall be required to manage applicant information prior to an applicant's attendance at A&S. The Recruiter shall utilize the Systematic Approach to Recruiting in order to gain new working applicants, through telephone calls, emails and unit canvassing of potential prospects that meet the prescribed MARSOC application standards. The Recruiter shall be responsible for tracking applicant's completion of the Naval Special Warfare (NSW) Physical prior to the applicant's attendance at A&S. The Recruiter shall have an understanding of Marine Corps Orders and Directives that govern the Marine Corps Recruiting Program. The Recruiter must possess a working knowledge of MARSOC and the associated missions applicable to the Critical Skills Operators and Special Officer Operators. Recruiter will be assigned a minimum number of potential applicants that shall be contacted on a daily basis, and shall monitor an assigned minimum number of working applicants per month who have been assigned to upcoming or future A&S Classes. In addition, applicant contacts and working applicant information will be reported in concert with the weekly, monthly and quarterly reports to be provided by the Recruiting Training and Operations Officer. Recruiter shall be required to travel to CONUS and OCONUS locations in support of the R&A mission. Recruiters shall be required to speak in public forums, as well as interact directly with individual applicants. Recruiters shall work extensively with the Microsoft Office suite of tools, and must be proficient in the use of Word, Outlook, Powerpoint, and Excel. The Recruiter shall be responsible for other administrative duties in support of the R&A mission.
Minimum Education/Experience Requirements: Associate's Degree and at least four (4) years of experience as a Marine Corps Recruiter and/or a Unit Career Planner or Marine Recruiter Instructor.

Required skills include:
  • Served in the US Marine Corps between E-6 to E-9.
  • Served 2 years in a MARSOC organization.
  • Completion of the Marine Resident or Non-Resident Staff Non-Commissioned Officer Career or Advance Course.

Must possess a current US Passport.

Must be willing to travel to various CONUS and OCONUS non-hazardous locations.

Must possess an active Secret Security Clearance.

Essential Functions

Work Environment

Work will be performed inside a large facility. Work assignments vary based on client requirements. Position could require some night and weekend work. Travel is required to various CONUS and OCONUS non-hazardous locations based on client requirements.

Physical Requirements

Sitting at desk. Phone use and PC or laptop. Filing required. May require lifting and carrying boxes of supplies or files up to 25 lbs. Extended periods of sitting while on PC/laptop or phone.

Equipment and Machines

General office equipment, which includes: telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.


Work assignments dependent on requirements by the client. It is important to be able to work at least 8 hours a day for 5 days per week (Monday through Friday).

Candidate must exhibit a professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace. Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government, military and contractor personnel at all levels. Must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. Grooming and dress usually business casual, but dependent on client's standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.
