Support our Vapor Intrusion Practice across the Midwestern U.S.A. and have a hand in transforming tomorrow.

As a Vapor Intrusion Specialist, you will have the chance to utilize your broad understanding of vapor intrusion to support site characterization and remediation projects. You will perform as a task manager, responsible for developing technical approaches in consultation with a senior consultant, and directing a task team in the implementation of those approaches. Working with other members of the team, you will develop scopes of work, schedules and cost estimates for vapor intrusion investigation or data assessment components of projects. During your time with us, you will also prepare deliverables that adhere to project scope, schedule and budget requirements, and apply quality control procedures to assure the quality of project deliverables.
Our Vapor Intrusion Specialists also:
• Prepare vapor intrusion investigation work plans and serve as a field team leader directing field investigation activities and travel 50-60%.
• Conduct assessments of vapor intrusion investigation data using screening levels, models, data displays and statistical methods as appropriate.
• Participate in CH2M's vapor-intrusion community of practice.
• Participate in local or regional professional societies and committees.
• Attain (or maintain) professional certifications such as CIH, CIAQ or MPH, or professional registrations such as a PE or PG appropriate for the individual's education and experience soon after the work experience requirements have been met.

The minimum qualifications for this position are:
• Knowledge of the principles of the vapor intrusion practice, including pertinent technical literature, national and state guidance, investigation methods, data assessment tools and 3 or more years of VI experience.
• Familiarity with the engineering principles and practices of vapor intrusion mitigation systems.
• Experience collecting and analyzing chemical and physical data pertaining to vapor intrusion.
• Bachelors degree in an appropriate scientific or engineering discipline with 6 to 10 years professional environmental experience. Years of post-baccalaureate education may be counted toward years of professional experience.
• HAZWOPER 40-hour training certificate or ability to obtain.

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience:
  • MS or PhD in an appropriate scientific or environmental engineering discipline
  • Familiarity with the principles of indoor air quality and building sciences
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Industrial Hygienist [CIH] or
  • Master's in Public Health [MPH], or professional registrations such as a PE or PG
  • Previous peer-reviewed journal publications and experience presenting vapor intrusion findings a national conferences are desired.
  • Previous experience working with EPA Region 5

Additional information: CH2M's vapor intrusion practice has been rapidly growing and is expected to continue to grow approximately 20% per year. Location is flexible for this position as long as it Midwestern USA near a CH2M office. CH2M will not support an employment visa (H1B, etc.) to fill this role.
