Job Overview:

CB&I currently has an opening for Environmental Technician for our Latham, NY location. This is primarily a field-based position supporting our programs' environmental assessment and remediation.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities:
  • Collecting environmental samples in the field
  • Calibrating and using technical instruments
  • Work will periodically involve over site of subcontractors operation of construction equipment - backhoe/loader, compactor, or other mechanical construction equipment
  • Work will consist of straightforward tasks using established procedures, with the potential for solving routine problems as encountered.
  • Work may often involve use of complex instrumentation or equipment and may include installation, calibration and/or maintenance of equipment or instrumentation associated with a particular job site on an as-needed basis.
  • The Technician will be expected to apply basic technical skills and knowledge to complete the assigned work and will be expected to manage his/her own time to meet deadlines set by others.
  • Develop and maintain records either manually or by computer method
  • Performs field inspections
  • Evaluates routing operations of recovery system operations and maintenance
  • May make recommendations for improvements
Basic Qualifications:
  • 3 years of relevant experience in investigations and remediation (I&R) or related field experience
  • Local travel is required. Must be able to work independently on hazardous waste sites and meet the 40-hour OSHA physical requirements (includes wearing PPE and a full-face respirator).
  • Must be able to work in the field in all types of field conditions/weather.
  • Must be able to lift over 50 pounds.
  • High school diploma, technical school and/or some college.
  • Knowledgeable of applicable health and safety regulations
  • Certified in CPR and first aid
  • Applies knowledge and skills to complete own work.
  • Lifting and physical work will be required. Some overtime and weekend work will be required to meet project deadlines.
Desired/Preferred Qualifications:
  • 40-hour OSHA-HAZWOPER training
