This position, Lead Engineer - GT Controls Design, is primarily responsible for delivering the Controls excellence through NPI & OTR processes, while developing advanced technology based Gas Turbine Controls solutions, with accountability and collaborative engineering. This role requires, in addition to closely interacting with internal & external customers, strong inclusive team player with outcome focus and willing to work in an Agile methodology of execution.

Essential Responsibilities

In this position, the individual will be exposed to all aspects of the Gas Turbine (GT) Control system engineering - developing and implementing the application software (SW) - for various frames of GE Heavy Duty Gas Turbine (HDGT) Fleet. The successful individual in this position would have great understanding of the GT Control system as well as the fundamentals of GT Operations and how those fundamentals interact with the control system to deliver optimum value to the customer. The position will also offer ample opportunities to directly interface with customers and commercial entities.

Executing in Agile methodology and collaborative engineering, while working closely with the Controlled Title Holders, experienced Engineers & Engineering Technical Leaders, in the design, requisition, validation and commissioning of GT Controls system solutions for GE HDGT applications, the successful candidate will utilize her/his problem-solving, technical & interpersonal skills & project management experience to

-Lead & Execute GT Application SW design and engineering - both for New Unit (GPS) and Services (PS) P&L by owning, developing and applying advanced controls technologies to GT Application to produce tangible customer outcomes

-Provide Project leadership for assuring design execution quality & timeliness, while enhancing technical domain expertise, demonstrating strong sense of ownership, accountability & urgency in meeting critical business metrics

- Write, Test & develop requirements for application code and failure mode driven validation methodologies

- Lead and conduct Controls Software Acceptance Tests (SWAT) with Customer, demonstrating and validating Controls Functionality

- Provide Start Up, Commissioning, Issue Resolutions support for Power Plant Controls Systems on Controls HW and SW Applications, with occasional travel to customer sites as needed

- Proactively collaborate with the systems, Cross-Functional engineering teams, commercial and ITO teams to ensure successful & smooth NPI / OTR outcomes for Controls solutions

- Demonstrate strong GE Beliefs and customer centrist culture in every day execution

- Provide constructive inputs driving continuous improvement, deliverable quality & process simplification and productivity improvements


- Bachelors' degree in Engineering (Electrical / Electronics / Controls & Instrumentation)
- 7+ years working experience in Engineering in which at least 3-5 years in Gas Turbine Controls Engineering
- Strong working knowledge of GE Heavy Duty Gas Turbine Controls and Operational philosophy of various GE GT Frames with hands on experience on GE GT or ST Controls (Mark* Series) would be distinct advantage
- Hands on experience in Installation/Commissioning/Maintenance of GT Controls Systems, HMI and Networks
- Proven Experience in developing Controls Logic using Ladder Logic / Statement List / Block Logic diagrams
- Proven track record executing projects for GT Controls upgrade to completion timely & with quality
- Strong communication, presentation & project management skills
- Willingness to be challenged and executing using new technologies & skills

Desired Characteristics

- Knowledge of Network protocols, GE Toolbox/Toolbox ST Experience
- Experience with GT Modeling & Simulations Software
- Knowledge on ST, Generator and Auxiliary equipment, including their interfaces to Controls systems
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to influence & lead
- Experience working in global, matrix org & ability to make timely and sound decisions based on data
- Experience and willingness to travel to customer sites to support Controls scope commissioning or issue resolutions, when such need arises
