Job Description

This position manages activities relating to all aspects of safe transportation of hazardous and non-hazardous materials. It coordinates the distribution and hazardous material transportation programs for the company by developing policies and procedures that promote compliance with regulations and company policies related to all modes of product transport including road, rail, pipeline, air and certain marine activities. The position monitors industry activity, conducts internal auditing, and advises LBU's and BU's. This position is an active team member of the Crisis Management Incident Support Team (IST) and supports the Responsible Care ® effort, and in particular, Product Stewardship and RCMS for the Corporate office.

  • Manage activities relating to all aspects of safe transportation of company products, including hazardous materials. Promote compliance with U.S. and International regulations through monitoring of industry activity, internal auditing, and providing assistance and advising sites, business lines and corporate departments concerning transportation projects and issues.
  • Support Responsible Care activities. Responsible for the implementation and certification of the Responsible Care Management System (RCMS) at the Corporate Office.
  • This position participates with Product Stewardship activities, especially in the areas of Community Outreach and Value Chain Audit programs. Also supports efforts on company product reviews and distribution.
  • Responsible for monitoring of inclement weather, including tropical weather activity for all sites, and providing decision-making information when appropriate.
  • This position initiates and develops sustainable program documents adhering to the Maestro Management System framework. Seeks approval of documents and supports LBU implementation.
  • This position actively participates on the IST and is an active Incident Support Coordinator

Profile sought
  • Education/Training: B.S. Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Safety, Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience; plant experience is desirable.
  • This position requires 49CFR (HAZMAT), ICAO, and IMDG Certification
  • Knowledge of ADR and TDG regulations is desirable
  • Certification in DGAC a plus.
  • This position requires meticulous organization skills, ability to prioritize simultaneous projects and multi-task.
  • The job holder must be PC proficient, including use of Microsoft Products
  • This position requires good interpersonal and communication skills.
