Basic Function:
The Project Engineer (PE ) is responsible for the successful customer interaction, planning, delivery, installation and documentation of the group projects.

Job Summary:
The Project Engineer (PE ) is responsible for the successful planning, delivery, installation and documentation of the group projects. Meaning that; the client delivery schedule, functional & technical requirements are met in full while meeting the project financial margin target and maintaining associated paperwork in-line with Weatherford and the Client Company polices procedures and systems, statutory regulations and good industry practice
The Project Engineer is responsible for all operational and procedural activities within his remit as well as the safe and efficient utilization of Weatherford personnel and equipment.
The work performed on/offsite will be under customer supervision to the contracted specification. The Project Engineer is responsible for achieving within the framework of the job scope and subject to the client contractual obligations and both regulatory and Weatherford policies and procedure requirements.
The position is classified as mobile and the job holder is required to respect the Global nature of the business and be prepared to travel nationally and internationally to support the Intelligent Well Systems business projects.  Periods of travel and duration of work/travel are project specific and variable.
Summary of Essential Job Functions:
  • The PE is responsible for ensuring that they are familiar and confident in performing all "field operations" in advance of being required to perform the actual "field operations".  Any deficiencies identified are to be reported in a timely manner to the RM-IWS Project Manager to ensure all "field operations" are performed successfully to the contracted specification. Sound knowledge in Weatherford fiber optics IWS system.
  • The PE is responsible for identifying and documenting any Risk Assessment, associated with performing "field operations" in a timely manner ahead or performing the said "field operation".
  • The PE is responsible for ensuring they participate in a Projects to Operations handover, evaluating the content of any Rig Book and or Procedures and Work Instructions and ensuring any deficiencies are noted and highlighted to the PE.
  • The PE is responsible for the Safety, Integrity and Security of all equipment used or delivered for "field operations", they are also responsible for ensuring all equipment is returned and any damages or shortages reported to the Company Rep and PE prior to back-loading and shipment.
  • The PE is responsible for all "field operations" equipment.
  • When arriving onsite the PE  is responsible for ensuring that all equipment for installation in the Well is bench checked and where practical all Weatherford and /or 3rd party interfaces are rechecked in a timely manner ahead of Rig Floor operations and any shortcomings reported to P.E and Company Rep
  • The PE is responsible for all "field operation" reporting, including daily reports and end of job reporting.
  • The PE is responsible all the coordination with customer for the present contracts. Also has to support site installations. All the ROs, revenue, invoicing monitoring. 
  • The PE is responsible to maintain the optimum inventory in country for the ongoing contracts.
  • The PE has to support other product line under the Completions as and when required.
  • Develop team of people to support Qatar IWS operations.
  • Monitor and provide training on IWS team.
  • Support PLM to have successful operations and smooth running of project.
  • Support PLM with the required technical and commercial information related to IWS.
Individual Safety Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that all necessary measures are taken to eliminate or reduce any actual or potential hazard that may be identified with any work related activity.
  • Ensure that all personnel involved in an installation activity are made aware of any actual or potential hazards associated with the work being undertaken.
  • Ensuring that all accidents, incidents or near misses are reported to the IWS Project Manager at the earliest opportunity.
  • In all cases the IWS Project Manager must be notified of any situation or activity which is considered to be unsafe or potentially unsafe.
  • 7+ years experience in Oil & Gas operation including 4+ years running Weatherford reservoir monitoring systems (Electronic and/or Fibre optic). Knowledge in fiber optics down hole gauging system and DTS is mandatory.
  • Certified Qualification/Training in Project Engineering for Downhole Monitoring
  • 2+ years experience using Project Management software tools MS-Project or similar
  • Familiar with quality management systems
  • Fluent in English and Arabic
  • Computer literate in Word, Excel, Visio, Access and PowerPoint
  • Self starter with good ability to work without supervision using own initiative to solve problems
  • Must be able to communicate with clients, 3rd parties, vendors and own company internal groups with good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to discern key information and required actions from complex problems
  • Must be flexible and adaptable to business change and varying workloads
  • Ability to support other PL under Completions.
  • Practical experience Optical and Electronic Engineering
  • Practical experience in Reservoir engineering / Well engineering
  • Practical experience in Production Optimization and Surface instrumentation
  • Practical experience in Intelligent Wells Projects
  • Past experience in Oil & Gas operations
  • Experience and/or Qualification in Project Engineering or Design Engineering
Required Education:
  • Engineering Degree (University or Engineering School) level Engineering or Science
  • Additional training in Project Engineering & Management, Reservoir Monitoring, Intelligent Well Systems, Production Optimization
Required Experience:
  • 5 to 10 years minimum.
