We have a requirement for Region Tax Manager - APAC, based in Singapore. This position has the responsibility for directing a variety of tax related activities in accordance with the overall tax strategy so that the organisation meets its tax obligation and objectives. Manages the retention and preparation of tax records, tax returns and other required reports. Assess the impact of an organisation's tax liability. Advise senior management on tax matters on the potential impact of current and future regulations on operation. Manage ongoing engagement with external consultants and advisors. Lead, direct, evaluate and develop of tax professionals to ensure that tax strategy is implemented consistently and in compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
Key areas of responsibility include
  • communicating with external tax agencies/authorities.
  • Conduct due and proper evaluation of the organisation's current or proposed activities, policies, business practices, and transactions to ensure that they comply with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Ensure that all tax returns (personal, VAT, corporate, withholding, custom), tax declarations, and other required reports are submitted accurately and on time.
  • Advise senior management on tax matters and on the potential impact of current and future laws and regulations on the operation of the organisation.
  • Select, and manage ongoing relationships with, external consultants and advisors (for example tax advisors) to ensure the organisation receives satisfactory standards of service.
  • Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of tax professionals to ensure that the organisation's tax strategy is implemented accurately and consistently and in compliance with all relevant regulations, laws and standards.
  • Review and provide tax guidance/comments to the sales contract team in relation to the business tender documents, terms and conditions to draft contracts to ensure no tax adverse phrases were included in the contract.
  • Managing the tax accounting aspect for the organization, e.g. adequacy and basis of tax provision, review and provide justification for the balance maintained.
  • Provide support to region tax department in the collation of data for US/Region Tax reporting and attend to the annual tax provisioning exercise.
  • Review balance sheet accounts related to taxation.
  • Other duties as directed by management.
To be successful you will ideally have the following skills and experience;
  • Finance and accounting general knowledge under the US GAAP
  • At least 8 years of experience in similar field / capacity
  • Commercial tax experience and exposure to regional taxation regulation.
  • Familiar with ASC740 US tax accounting reporting and requirements
  • Sound understanding of Australia & New Zealand Tax legislations
