Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Serves a key role in Downstream IT Operations.
  • Is responsible for the reliability of Pricing business processes for Fuels and Lubricants Pricing & Margin Management relying on web applications used by Chevron teams around the globe. Processes include pricing management, deal scenario management, information sharing, decision analysis, and data integration with SAP as well as MARS and other Downstream systems.
  • Works with Downstream Solution Architects and Information Architects, Business Relationship Managers, Business Analysts, ITC PAD and IA Analysts to optimize application performance and data integration, ensure information security, and provide system reliability for Downstream Sales & Marketing processes.
  • Provides an opportunity to deepen and broaden technical knowledge into Java & XML, Vendavo Pricing & Margin Management application, WebLogic, Oracle, Unix/Linux, and Windows, build business domain knowledge, develop leadership skills (including CPDEP for IT and Lean Sigma), work with virtual teams, collaborate with business partners, and solve complex performance tuning and system reliability issues. This is an excellent feeder role into the Technical/Solution Architect roles or Information Architect roles.

Technical responsibilities:
  • Ensures application reliability.
  • Analyzes system performance.
  • Designs and implements application improvements and enhancements.
  • Provides workload analysis and system error analysis.
  • Establishes standard background jobs and system health checks.
  • Monitors and performs Oracle database administration.
  • Enforces change control and release management standards, problem escalation and resolution.
  • Works with software/hardware vendors.
  • Works with business partners.
  • Maintains environment copies, system refreshes, Information Risk Management (IRM) compliance.
  • Ensures alignment with Downstream IT governance and Chevron IT standards.

    Additional responsibilities:
  • Develops solutions with programs and interfaces using application functionality and configuration tools.
  • Communicates incident status with business partners.
  • Plans and schedules implementation of changes.
  • Implements database additions/changes by maintaining stored procedures, triggers, views, etc.
  • Creates high quality system support, technical and programming documentation.
  • Coordinates the implementation of required hardware and software components for approved applications, web application development, deployment, integration, migration and upgrades.
  • On occasion, responds to after-hours critical emergencies for application reliability and may need to perform night/weekend work required for system maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in IT or related field.
  • Information Systems Support experience (1-5 years in this position).
  • Must have at least one of the following core skill sets: Java Web Applications (Either functional, or technical experience), Vendavo Pricing & Margin Management application development , Oracle DBA, Windows Admin, and Unix/Linux Admin. One is preferred; two or more are preferable.
  • Although technical training will be provided, the candidate must be a self-starter, curious about technology, able to multi-task, able to work independently, communicate well, and have a passion for solving difficult, technical problems.
  • Basic understanding of system hardware, application architecture and environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn/grasp different technologies and systems.
  • Strong communication (written/verbal) and facilitation skills with solid ability to convey technical information to a diverse audience (business analysts, technical analysts, managers, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to engage difficulties with persistence.
  • Self-directed, flexible, working with minimal supervision, takes initiative, displays a high degree of ownership.
  • Must be willing to adjust working hours to meet with individuals in other global locations.
  • Willingness and ability to travel on a periodic basis and may include international travel.
  • Experience designing and/or developing multi-tiered applications. Must have at least two of the following core skill sets: Java/WebLogic, Oracle, Unix/Linux, or Windows. Able to create software requirements, design, and quality assurance documentation.
  • Depth of experience supporting applications and tools.
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge of ITSM principles, particularly incident management and change management, as well as service level agreements.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with management , peers and customers across disciplines and geographies.
  • Proven ability to remain focused upon agreed deadlines and deliverables while handling conflicting requirements.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities with team members, Downstream Solution and Information Architects, Business Relationship Managers, Business Analysts, ITC PAD and IA Analysts, end users and vendors resources.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPDEP knowledge, Lubricants IT knowledge in Pricing & Margin Management, Vendavo knowledge, and SAP experience.
  • Vendavo application development knowledge.
  • Lubricants IT knowledge in Pricing & Margin Management.
  • Pricing knowledge in Fuels area.
  • Ability to constructively manage issues, conflicts and problems in a prompt, direct and objective manner.
  • Effectively deal with change and consistently maintain composure and logical thinking while under persistent pressure.
  • Organized and skilled at planning. Ability to work from a high-level to a low level of detail, and handle multiple assignments with varying priorities and deadlines.
  • Knowledge of IT ERP solutions including SAP.
  • Process and requirement development and documentation knowledge.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.

Relocation Options:

Relocation will not be considered within Chevron parameters.

International Considerations:

Selected candidates will work in the Philippines under the local payroll system and benefits.
