In this position, a Material Planner can expect to be responsible for the following:
  • Apply knowledge of procurement and material management principles and techniques to award and administer component and service contracts and evaluate material needs and requirements associated with product line activities
  • Solicit quotations and analyze contract proposals associated with moderately complex materials, equipment, components and services.
  • Lead investment risk assessment process with product groups to ensure organizational needs are met and optimized through Materials Requirements Planning Process.
  • Review pricing, quality, and delivery requirements.
  • Process requisitions with moderate supervision, within limits of authority.
  • Develop and maintain working relationships with suppliers and internal customers to maintain adequate sources of supply.
  • Identify standard engineering, quality and administrative issues, assisting with resolution to fulfill internal and external procurement requirements on medium dollar contracts.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to continuously monitor, control, store, ship and receipt all on site and off site inventories.
  • Direct the emergency response process to respond to customer emergencies.
  • Assist in development and implementation of procurement and material management quality initiatives and process improvement programs.
  • Identify and obtain cost improvements of purchased materials and services through negotiation and process improvements.
  • Obtain training and acquire additional skills/knowledge to ensure compliance with nuclear regulatory requirements and enhance personal growth. Develop understanding of value analysis.
  • Requisition materials and supplies in concert with overall business strategies for efficient inventory management.
  • Coordinate and expedite material deliveries.
  • Monitor supplier performance to meet customer requirements and internal business plans.

Job Requirements
The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
  • Knowledge of U.S. and international utility industries, inventory practices, procurement, engineering, quality assurance requirements, commercial dedication, operation and maintenance practices.
  • Desirable to be able to read engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Minimum 1 year of professional experience required
  • Certification of periodic training in nuclear industry standards/regulations, i.e. 10CFR50, App b, 10CFR21, ASME/B&PV Code,
  • Company policies and NRC guidelines on storage and maintenance practices.
  • SAP experience a plus.
  • Prior inventory experience preferred.
