The primary function of an Engineering Tech is to assist in a variety of technical assignments related to testing (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and vibrational) and development of new and improved fuel assemblies and components.  Install and setup equipment including instrumentation necessary to perform these tests and, while conducting the tests, monitor instrumentation and record data associated with tests.

In this position, a Engineering Tech/Test Technician can expect to be responsible for the following:

1. Review test prospectuses to determine equipment and hardware necessary to perform specific tests (electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and vibrational).
2. Provide general assistance to technicians and engineers in the design of custom test systems and fixtures.
3. Assemble components, fixtures or equipment for performing electrical, mechanical, hydraulic or vibrational testing.
4. Perform basic machining activities using equipment in the lab.
5. Monitor various mechanical / electronic equipment and instrumentation, such as, but not limited to, Instron universal test machines, vibration testing system, multi-channel signal processors and computer-based data collection systems.
6. Perform non-standard electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and vibrational testing on fuel assemblies and components.
7. Compile test data (using computer systems as required).
8. Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment.
9. Follow procedures for maintenance of collected test data.  Records may consist of chart recording, calibration reports, component characteristics (before and after test), data collection system printouts, digital test tapes and photographs.
10. Maintain work area in a clean and orderly condition.
11. Move materials and supplies as directed.
12. Adhere to applicable accountability, traceability, criticality safety, security and hygiene procedures.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:

- High school graduate, plus two years of relevant technical training required; Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or related field is highly desired.
- Must have working knowledge of computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing and other software packages.
- Preferred working knowledge of electronics and electro-mechanical devices.
- Preferred working knowledge of instrumentation and controls systems and devices.
- 0 to 5 years of experience in some combination of relevant electronic or manufacturing fields.  Education may be substituted for some experience.

1. Operate forklift and overhead crane as required.  Obtain appropriate licenses to operate equipment.
2. Successfully complete any course work requirements.
3. Experience with Brüel & Kjær or other similar data acquisitions systems preferred
