What is the Smart Programme? The Smart Programme Delivery team is delivering the technical enablers that will result in npower being able to deploy c5 million smart meters by 2020 as part of the governments Smart Programme rollout. Its a large, complex business change programme that is set to transform that way npower delivers energy services across the UK. We work in stages (also known as releases) in order to provide a smooth implementation process for both our customers and our team.

What are we looking for ? We are establishing an Operational Intelligence Centre to ensure that all our SMART meters are managed successfully without impacting our customer base. The Centre will provide the business with Operational Insight (OI) allowing us to make informed decisions.

The OI Centre is in its infancy today with plans to grow so its a great time to join the team to help shape the way we build and create this capability, so a flexible approach to taking in new technologies and ways of working within a rapidly changing technology base is key to our success.

We are seeking candidates with the following skills and experience:

Effective at big data analysis:

Able to merge large data from disparate systems to identify cause and effect relationships.

Capable of working with aggregated data sources across enterprise and cloud based solutions

High level of ability with complex problem solving of highly complex issues.

Understands distributed system architecture and understands implications of change.

Excellent communicator

Working across all levels including senior stakeholder level

Can clearly and fluently translate complex technical findings to non-technical audience.

Ability to map across different information streams into a coherent story to the business e.g. use cases from Problem statements

Proficient in the use of Standard SQL and/or VBA

Knowledge and previous experience of using Big Data environments

Hadoop / data lakes & associated analysis toolsets such Splunk, Datameer,

Visualisation tools such as Tableau powerBI etc.

Proficient with known Statistical, Machine Learning algorithms

Understand system data quality lifecycle and familiar with data quality management

Due to the nature of the role it is anticipated that this role may require Baseline Security Check (minimum) SC clearance would be an advantage
