Scope of the Position:

Siemens Energy Management Digital Grid Software Solutions is looking for a highly dependable and highly skilled software applications engineer. Specific duties include: develop, implement, and perform complex software related for our Information Model Management (IMM) application. Analyze, design, develop, troubleshoot, recommend solutions, perform enhancements, provide technical support, and implement modifications associated with the IMM application. Design, develop and implement application software for electricity markets and systems using different programming methods.

Specific Responsibilities

• Active in all phases of system development; planning and analysis, design, development and testing
• Provide architectural technical expertise to team concerning methods, procedures and standards to be used in the during the design and development process
• Develop application from scratch and enhance existing software applications
• Develop and maintain technical documentation and operational procedure for area of responsibility
• Investigate and fix defects in both the pre and post release phases
• Follow and contribute to the team standard and utilize industry best practices

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

• Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Bachelors or Masters degree in Electrical Engineering with Computer Software/computer engineering or related field and a combination of work experience
• Experience in C++, JAVA/J2EE
• Experience with Oracle database (database users, schema, queries in SQLPlus) and PL/SQL
• Experience with building complete application on Windows and Linux
• Basic practical knowledge about Operating System functionality (Windows, Linux: understanding basic concept of OS organization and differences between Windows and Linux, installing, uninstalling applications, changing basic configuration)
• Some knowledge about DLL concept and Shared Object on Linux
• Basic practical knowledge about Computer Networks
• Experience with Application servers such as Jboss or Tomcat
• Ability to understand client requirement and come up with design solution

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

• Excellent organizational skills with ability to achieve results within tight deadlines
• Background in electric utility software
• Experience in large system development
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to lead development, delivery and customer service efforts
• Excellent team player
• Ability to travel up to 30% of time
• Strong customer service orientation
• Knowledge of the Common Information Model (CIM) used for modeling electric utility transmission facilities
