Job Description
The Turbine Design department is seeking an experienced Heat Transfer design engineer. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work in a fast paced, dynamic, product development environment to develop hot gas path components for industrial gas turbine engines at Siemens Energy in the Orlando FL, Jupiter FL or Charlotte NC office. The primary responsibilities are definition of cooling schemes of hot gas path (turbine) blades, vanes and flow path components, and subsequent calculation of the component thermal boundary conditions. The cooled airfoil thermal efficiency, manufacturing cost and durability has a primary effect on a gas turbine Life Cycle Cost and is a primary factor for customers when purchasing a gas turbine. This position therefore has a direct impact on Siemens competitive ability. This position is within the Large Gas Turbine rotation components engineering organization and reports to the Turbine Heat Transfer Manager (US).


• Heat Transfer design of hot gas path blades, vanes and flow path.
components; development of Heat Transfer design solution variants and concepts.
• Able to succeed in an Integrated Project Team (IPT) environment; lead or support product development teams in a Heat Transfer design capacity.
• Development and implementation of Heat Transfer design tools and methods.
• Assessment and evaluation of field measurements.
• Ability to drive a team through tough technical challenges.
• Lead subprojects in the field of developments including management of outsourcing specific tasks (design or external research and development).
• Support of manufacturing through initial qualification and subsequent production phases.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

• In-Depth fundamental understanding of Heat Transfer and Thermodynamics.
• University degree in mechanical, aerospace, materials engineering or similar.
• 3+ years' experience in axial flow gas turbine design and manufacturing support with a focus on heat transfer, or a recent grad PhD with similarly relevant experience.
• Significant design/analysis experience with components for turbo-machinery applications or similar applications.
• Advanced knowledge of computational methods, i.e. numerical methods with proven expertise in heat transfer methods and tools.
• Demonstrated detail-oriented and innovative thinking mindset
• Must be highly motivated
• Must have exceptional inter-personal skills and enjoy working with colleagues from different organizations and cultural background
• Required 10% of travel
• Business fluent in English

Note: This position may require an export license from the Department of Commerce, Bureau of
Industry and Security and/or the Department of State, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls.
Issuance of any required license is a prerequisite for this position.
