The department is responsible for large structural components that must be able to stand extreme and fatigue loads during the product lifetime. Working with these components requires multiple competences for a mechanical engineer, as you will have to master casted iron components, bolt connections and contacts in general, material understanding, NDT, tolerance chain analysis, manufacturability etc.
In the department we are responsible for design and analysis from the early concept study to the final specification for production. Additional we are also looking ahead to verify new technologies such that these can be part of future projects.

  • Accountable for the quality of own design work
  • Responsible for generating creative solutions to design challenges, in order to fulfil the product and technology road maps
  • Delivery of design work to gate reviews and to the project, matching specifications for function, cost, quality and time
  • Responsible for providing the most robust, reliable, efficient design solution with highest performance and lowest cost
  • Maintain awareness of engineering practices and technology developments
  • Safe working in line with HS&E policy

The Design Engineer is accountable for understanding, clarifying and documenting:
  • Design specifications/requirements
  • Design functionality, including functional HW/SW interfaces
  • Design performance and reliability including lifetime estimates of the design
  • Design verification and validation
  • Design risk associated to the design
  • Design safety
  • Sourcing of components

  • Minimum master's degree within Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering or similar.
  • Minimum 3 years of wind turbine design experience

Able to work with global suppliers and delegating and creating results through those as part of own deliveries

  • Skilled in mechanical engineering and design
  • Skilled in structural analysis using FE tools, preferably Ansys
  • Skilled in structural verification of bolt connections
  • Skilled in understanding of turbine loads
  • Experience with 3rd party certification
  • Experience with extreme and fatigue analysis
  • Experience on materials and its properties
  • Experience in system interface design & stakeholder mgmt.
  • Knowledge about FE scripting
  • Knowledge about fracture mechanics
  • Knowledge about topology optimization
  • Knowledge of system engineering tools like DFMEA, HSE assessments, documentation
  • High degree of personal planning
  • Accountable and focus on deliver on time
  • Good English communication skills
