VAT Assistant to join our UK Taxes department  
Can you deal with deadlines and take our VAT compliance processes to the next level? 
Join us and become a VAT Assistant. Our Group Tax department is responsible for VAT compliance and providing VAT advice to our portfolio of UK entities and UK-based projects. In UK DONG, we have approximately 30 VAT registrations. Each month a VAT return and other returns need to be submitted for each VAT registration. To improve compliance, errors need to be identified and highlighted to the relevant teams when issues arise. We also provide specialised VAT advise to the business on a wide range of issues. 
The department is part of our Group functions, which cover Group Support, Group Finance & Services and Group IT. In Group Finance & Services, we focus our efforts on supporting the entire business and ensuring that the company works as a professional, reliable and responsible company. 
You will be based at our London, Victoria office. However, you should expect some travelling in relation to your work. 
Your key tasks will be to 
Assist the Senior VAT Specialist in the preparation and submission of monthly and quarterly VAT returns, EC Sales Lists, Intrastat reporting and foreign VAT reclaims  
Assist the Senior VAT Specialist with supervising management of reconciliation of VAT Returns to VAT Control General Ledger Accounts, VAT account review and monitoring and posting VAT journals 
Assist the Senior VAT Specialist in the preparation and submission to HMRC of excise duty fuel reclaims 
prepare and run VAT analytics reports for the VAT team  working in close cooperation with the indirect tax team and evaluate areas for further investigation 
interact with the wider Finance Teams and IT to understand financial transactions and to suggest how errors could be rectified as appropriate. 
Your qualifications and core competences include that you 
have good IT skills in particular use of excel and are willing to learn and develop other software tools for use in VAT preparation 
have excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and work to deadlines 
speak and write English fluently 
have good people skills and thrive in an international environment 
have a degree level and preferably AAT/ATT. 
Furthermore, you have experience from an in-house accounting environment or a private practice and, ideally, have had some exposure to tax compliance reporting/tax accounting. You have experience with ERP systems coupled with excellent MS Excel and Word skills. You will also have the ability to handle and process large amounts of data. You are self-motivated and demonstrate a willingness to travel occasionally to our other sites, both in the UK or in Denmark or other places as and when required.
