The Data Engineer will implement data-oriented solutions for business and technology projects across GE Power. You will own the technical solutions needed for data acquisition, storage, transformation, consumption, access, and provisioning to enable large scale software and analytics deployment for internal and external customers. You will be a member of cross functional teams working together to deliver successful outcomes.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Data Engineer, you will:
  • Architect, design and develop new systems and tools to enable accelerated data utilization and consumption
  • Engineer structured and unstructured data from source systems to fit business needs
  • Be fluent in both normalized and dimensional model disciplines and techniques and in creating logical and physical data models
  • Design and document conceptual & logical models and implements physical models
  • Drive a best-in-class data engineering practice that will be leveraged across organizations
  • Lead analysis, model and design the application data structure, storage, integration, deployment and support
  • Establish and maintain policies, procedures and standards for data management and processing
  • Provide technology guidance, tool evaluation, and proof of concept actions
  • Proficient in using data modeling tools, such as Power Designer or Erwin
  • Work across multiple cross-functional teams in high visibility roles and own the data solution end-to-end
  • Apply a lean mindset to drive accelerated deliverables in support of business data and analytics projects
  • Participate in setting strategy and standards through data architecture and implementation


  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology (IT), Computer Science or Engineering (or related IT degree)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience with technical implementations
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in software development and implementations
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience designing data model solutions for various applications

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver creative technical solutions
  • Excellent technical problem solving skills
  • Project management skills, Project Management Certification
  • Experienced software engineer with exceptionally strong coding, debugging, and design skills
  • Experienced in application and enterprise architecture, with emphasis on data management, integration, and data transformation
  • Experienced with effective application architectures and object oriented development, and software engineering methodologies, especially in cloud environments
  • Multiple years of experience using scripting (Python, Perl, Shell, etc) and working on databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, SQL Server, and/or time series databases
  • Project management and team leadership experience, project management certification
  • Experience with the GE Predix platform
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions in a matrix environment
  • Resourceful and quick learner; able to efficiently seek out, learn, & apply new areas of expertise in a fast paced environment
  • Proficient with agile methodologies, scrum master
  • Working experience in cloud environment
  • Possesses strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong technical aptitude and a passion to expand technical expertise
  • Strong team player - collaborates well, partners to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various sources
  • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of contemporary security practices
  • Self-starter - requires minimal direction to accomplish goals
