This Project/Construction Manager (PMCM) will work with sales and management team to pursue new EPCMV projects in the Biopharma/Life Sciences industry. The position has management level employees on the project as direct reports. This may include Design, Engineering, Procurement, Project Controls, and Construction. This position is client facing and would be the direct contact with an emphasis on ensuring Safety, Schedule, Cost, and Scope for the full life cycle of the project.

  • Responsible for overall Engineering and Construction project delivery (cost, schedule, quality, information, contracts). Leads project from estimate through close out documentation.
  • Lead efforts in the development of the Scope of Work.
  • Review and or revise and update the project schedule including pre-design, design, engineering, and construction activities;
  • Manage supplier change orders and construction costs.
  • Direct engineering activities and coordinates resources to achieve project goals.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of process flow diagrams, process and instrumentation diagrams and process and utility equipment documents.
  • Responsible for the health and safety of all personnel associated with the project including direct and contracted personnel.
  • Responsible for delivering the commercial margin on the project.
  • Accountable for compliance with the prime contract requirements
  • Manages all budgets, schedules, scope development, design and construction contracts, documents, procedures and controls for project
  • Requires knowledge of construction techniques and equipment in order to develop strategies and manage overall quality and efficient daily production of equipment
  • Insure that the contract specifications and plans are accurate and identify all requirements in compliance with legal codes, regulatory requirements and meet engineering and technical standards.
  • Continually reviews engineering and technical specifications of the project to determine accuracy as compared to actual on-site conditions.
  • Resolves complex construction related issues, disputes, and disagreements.
  • Reviews status and monitors variances of the construction project database relative to scheduling and cost control reporting

  • BS in an Engineering discipline, Construction Management, or Architecture required
  • Minimum 10 years' experience as a Project Manager in Construction required in an Engineering and Construction organization required
  • Ability and experience to lead and manage projects $75mm or greater
  • Strong working knowledge of pre-design and pre-construction, systems/components and technology, contract management, project delivery methods, team building and client relationship building required
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM), Professional Engineer (PE) or Architect license/certification preferred
  • The successful PMCM candidate must have recent and broad experience in the design and construction of biopharmaceutical facilities. Types of work should include site development, infrastructure and utility installation (clean and plant), main process areas, finishing and packaging and support facilities to include labs and office buildings.

Other Essential Functions:

  • Ability to travel, take the project from the design office into the field.
  • The PMCM must possess leadership and management qualities as both are required to successfully deliver projects.
  • Must have effective communication skills to build consensus with project team members and stakeholders.
  • Must be proficient in verbal and written forms of communication and capable of writing reports and presenting information effectively to clients, management and team is an essential.
  • Must have solid computer skills that include working knowledge of MS Office and MS Project. Experience using data based estimating and planning tools (Primavera) are a plus.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast pace environment

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to walk across long distances over potential rough terrain. The ability to climb stairs and ladders to inspect the work is also required. Exposure to weather elements while in the field.
