The Global Commodity Leader (CSL) will demonstrate leadership in communicating and executing business goals, programs, processes and Global strategies. The Global Commodity Leader will lead and drive strategies that will enable Distributed Power to meet business and sourcing short and long-term goals including but not limited to: Deflation, GE2GE, BCC (Best Cost Country), SSS (Single Sole Source) elimination, PCO (Product Cost Out).

Essential Responsibilities

As the Global Commodity Leader, you will:
  • Be responsible for the development and execution of Distributed Power commodity strategies for "C parts" commodities with an annual volume of ~$24 MM USD
  • Drive sourcing initiatives including GE2GE, best cost country (BCC), productivity, rationalization of supply base, sole source reduction, cycle reduction, on-time delivery and quality improvements, Six Sigma / lean, and cash flow improvement
  • Develop strategic relationships with global suppliers in order to meet cost out targets via supplier negotiations, alternate supplier development and/or shifting to Best Cost Country/Region suppliers
  • In conjunction with Supplier Quality and Fulfillment team, develop alternate sources and/or risk mitigation plans for single & sole source suppliers to assure on-time fulfillment for assigned commodities
  • Support NPI (New Product Introductions) for assigned commodities and leverage new programs to have a positive impact on sourcing metrics across spend
  • Partner with engineering to introduce and increase product cost out pipeline through product redesign, new technology introduction and second source projects
  • Develop and manage complex global supplier contracts and strategic relationships
  • Collaborate and with other Global commodity leaders develop suppliers across sub-commodities, leverage global spend and strategic relationships


  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 5 years of sourcing / supply chain / commodity leader or related sourcing / supply chain experience
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25%, as required

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Experience developing and implementing strategic plans
  • Previous experience managing Best Cost Country sourcing projects
  • Basic understanding of process cost estimating techniques such as Should Cost DFMA or aPriori.
  • Strong customer service mindset with ability to enhance internal customer relationships
  • Six Sigma trained; Black Belt or Green Belt certified (Internal GE only)
  • GE OMLP ( Operations Management Leadership Program) / CAS ( Corporate Audit Staff) graduate ( GE employees only)
