Jacobs is the lead contractor providing EPCM services for the Oyu Tolgoi Underground Project. This contract scope includes surface and infrastructure works and will see us leading the way for over 6 years to deliver this project successfully and safely.

We are currently seeking experienced Mechanical Engineers.

Based in our South Brisbane, QLD office, we are looking for motivated, organised, self-starters with proven experience in their discipline. The duration of the roles will be for approximately 6-8mths. Preference will be given to experienced locally based contractors. There is no planned travel requirement for the positions, however given this is a global project spanning several countries, there may be an opportunity to travel.

Knowledge and Responsibilities include:

  • Ensures engineering deliverables achieve quality, completion and profit objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance.
  • To provide engineering expertise as required.
  • To provide a high level of demonstrated experience in engineering and design management and technical engineering.
  • Be thoroughly conversant with codes, client and project specific specifications, procedures, vendor data, general arrangements and other requirements.
  • As Senior Engineer, assume responsibility for effective and competent design, detailed calculations, drawings, specifications, sizing and selection of equipment, materials selection and vendor technical assessment.
  • Ensure that Jacobs systems and standards are implemented effectively on projects..
  • Assist with co-ordination of a project engineering team and resolve engineering issues.
  • Identify improvements to design, procedures, proposals and work practices that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the group and communicate to the Lead Engineer.
  • Identify hazards and controls in consultation with discipline team members.
  • Participate in meetings related to planning, quality, safety and other technical matters as determined by the Chief Engineer.
  • Understanding project manager and client expectations and possess a high level of skill in managing these relationships
  • To develop solutions to complex engineering problems that meets or exceeds Client requirements.
  • Ensures that all project team employees have requisite competencies to undertake assigned tasks.
  • Experience in a similar role working on a major EPCM project will be key to success in this role.
