Utility Solutions Manager (USM)

The Energy Management (EM) Division of Siemens is the one-stop supplier of sophisticated energy management technology across the entire energy conversion chain - from power transmission right through to the customer - and makes it possible to adapt power grids to future demands, through modernization and capability enhancement. Scope of the Position

The Utility Solutions Manager for Siemens' Digital Grid business unit is responsible to lead and support the identification, design and selling of products, projects and solutions that leverage the Siemens portfolio for the benefit of the utility(ies) that they are assigned to. The USM is also responsible for establishing  relationships at multiple levels with their assigned utility(ies) and providing support and advices to that utility(ies) on how Siemens products, solutions and services can benefit them in meeting their business and operating objectives.  The USM will coordinate account activities with the various EM and DG sales and delivery organizations to maximize value to the customer and maximize business opportunities for Siemens.

Summary Level Responsibilities

• Sales support between the customer and respective Siemens business & sales teams

Detail Responsibilities
• Provide vision and leadership to the assigned utility(ies) for innovative design and delivery of products, solutions and services  
• Identify product/solution requirements according to customer priorities and objectives which span the EM and DG portfolios
• Develop effective relationships at multiple levels and support management programs in conjunction with the EM and DG account teams
• Support the business segments in the development of solution design and proposal materials
• Present the solutions and demonstrate the product and/or solution to targeted customers
• Participate in all solution bidding and sales activities for assigned utility(ies)
• Work closely with executives and other cross-functional teams to ensure fast and effective execution of solution development and marketing activities for assigned utility(ies)
• Work across business and function organizational units to ensure optimal customer acquisition and bidding strategies for assigned utility(ies)

Candidate Profile

This exciting new role offers the right candidate the opportunity to create and deliver value-add solutions and support fostering the long term strategic relationship for the assigned utility account(s).

You must have a minimum of 10 years of experience with utility operations as either part of the utility operations or management function and/or demonstrations with a scope of responsibility that includes concept, pilot and business solution design and execution.

The ideal candidate will have experience creating cross-functional and cross-organizational technical solutions to be applied within a utility operating environment.  

Functional Expertise:  Functional expertise in either the field operations, technical operations or planning functions for a large vertically integrated utility. Functional expertise requires competency in either an electrical engineering or software and services role within the utility.

Relationship Building and Collaboration: Experience interfacing with multiple customer groups, such as Sales, Pre-Sales Support, Bid Response, Project Management, Project Management & Project Delivery. Individual's experience and credibility enable them to forge strong relationships with stakeholders and clients, and industry and technical partners. Skilled at developing collaborative partnerships that support mutually beneficial business goals.

Leadership: Energetic and entrepreneurial skills along with an understanding of the importance of relationships and a demonstrated ability to leverage multiple high-performing teams. Consistently demonstrate strong ethics, influence and negotiation, interpersonal skills, communication, and the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

Business and Financial Acumen:  10+ years of experience and ability to align thinking with the business to produce solid business operating and bottom-line results. Demonstrated ability and success for basic business operations and the organizational levers (strategy, systems, processes, departments, functions) that drive exceptional business performance. Ability to draw from personal experience to quickly evaluate business challenges and plans to identify solutions that will address the needs and specific situation. Capability to quickly learn about and understand the businesses' customers and end users. Indentify key levers and defined risks in creating the recommendations to the customer.

Executive Presence and Influencing Skills: Capable to strategically influence stakeholders through demonstrated management, technical and operational credibility.  Leveraging that presence and influence to forge strong relationships with all stakeholders and customer executives.

Visionary Thinker: You are a passionate, visionary leader who is able to see past current conditions and accurately predict future market trends, define those in terms of product architectures and features and sell your vision to both internal and external stakeholders.

Academic/Credentials: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Power Systems or a related field.

Experience/Special Requirements: Minimum of 10-years industry experience with travel required.
