Leads the integration of design, manufacturing, service, and test requirements into the planning and build of new product test articles and associated hardware.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prepares and leads design reviews, test readiness reviews, and participates in the engineering tollgate process.
  • Leads and coordinates with design engineering, manufacturing, field services, and customers to ensure tests are planned and executed flawlessly.
  • Responsible for the design and implementation of all product modifications for the purpose of testing with a focus on high temperature, high stress, and high speed components.
  • Leads the execution of the test program ensuring tests are completed safely with data integrity.
  • Creates and reviews drawings and specifications for the products and test articles.
  • Designs & implements diverse, state of the art high speed, high temperature measurement systems.
  • Develops the method of signal delivery to the data acquisition systems.
  • Develops test product installation and operational procedures across the product line.
  • Procures all necessary equipment, parts, and material and manages the associated suppliers.
  • Ensures that multiple schedules and budgets (in excess of $1MM) are met in support of engineering programs.
  • Designs and operates auxiliaries to provide power, cooling, lubrication, structural, and safety measures for mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Dispositions all nonconforming equipment, parts, and material, during the manufacturing and commissioning phases.
  • Leads cross functional teams of 5 to 30 engineers, scientists, and technical specialists.
  • Hands on support in the preparation of test articles and in the execution of the test programs.


  • BS Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering/physical science.
  • 8 years of experience in a related field in a test, design, manufacturing, or field engineering role.
  • Willingness to travel globally to support field tests or supplier activities required.
  • Position requires work in and around large industrial systems at customer sites or in GE laboratories.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

  • MS in Engineering.
  • BB/GB certified.
  • Experience in power generating turbines or power plants, jet engines, or other turbo machinery.
  • Working knowledge of engineering software and proficient in the use of PC-based computer software.
  • Excellent engineering technical skills. Proficient in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, mechanics of materials, mechanical measurements, and electrical measurement theory. Ability to take theory to practice and be a creative problem solver.
  • Strong desire to build project management skills with a technical writing and process mindset.
  • Gas turbine or turbo machinery design, manufacturing, and / or testing experience.
  • Ability to lead others and positively motivate team members.
