As the Senior Facilities Engineer - Electrical, you will develop practical and innovative ways to identify and meet goals. In this role, you are responsible for work that is less defined in scope, you will utilize your understand and experience to execute business objectives and have the ability to effect short-term and some long-term business goals.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Senior Facilities Engineer - Electrical, you will:
  • Execute the design, analysis or evaluation of assigned projects using sound engineering principles and adhering to business standards and product requirements
    Have experience in the design and maintenance of commercial electrical systems, including distribution systems and a working knowledge of applicable IEEE, NEC / NFPA 70, UL, ISO9000, SCADA codes and standards
  • Be responsible for all aspects of assigned projects including design and installation, schedules, financial results, deliverables, coordination or all internal and external resources, establishing priorities, communication and reporting
  • Participate and conduct design reviews
    Conduct vendor reviews and selections
  • Be able to direct drafting efforts to complete design and construction / installation drawings and schematics
  • Review design and construction drawings and schematics for accuracy, producibility and compliance to applicable codes and standards
  • Document and ensure technical data generated is consistent with LPS
  • Facilitate Engineering Policies and procedures
    Review proposals for change of work
  • Prepare independent cost estimate and recommendations as to the necessity for each change
  • Review and analyze material submittals and substitutions, construction drawings and equipment / system installation manuals for conformity with construction contract requirements
  • Prepare written reports such analysis and provide recommendations for action as required
  • Review the internal or contractor's "as built" drawings and prepare written reports of findings
  • Make recommendations for action as appropriate
  • Provide Technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers
  • Assist as needed in long term planning and execution of strategic functional and department goals


  • Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science in Electrical Engineering Technology
  • Minimum of 8 years of engineering or manufacturing experience

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
    Registration as a professional engineer in the sate of New York
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in: system protection schemes, relay selection, protective relaying coordination and practices with demonstrated understanding of circuit breakers, fuses, circuit switchers, transformers, shunt devices and other methods and devices used in the control of power flow detection and isolation of power system faults
  • Experience in operational analysis, communication systems and maintenance practices for transmission distribution and generation protection applications are required
    Proven experience in variable speed AC drive systems, medium and high voltage switch gear, MCC's and related equipment, power systems analysis, motor starting studies and power factor correction analysis
  • Knowledge and experience in large electrical applications including AC drives
  • Knowledge of industrial electrical machine applications, such as centrifugal compressors, reciprocating compressors, water pumps and subslations, etc.
  • Ability to understand and implement design lay-outs for overall systems and applying drawing standards
    Working knowledge of electrical engineering design software
    Knowledge of using design CAD tools and demonstrated experience in use

  • Six Sigma training or equivalent quality certification
