Welding Engineer is responsible for ensuring manufacturability at the design of the components in the state of the art respecting the costs established in offer phase.

Essential Responsibilities

Welding Engineer is responsible for ensuring manufacturability at the design of the components in the state of the art respecting the costs established in offer phase. For that it controls the design reviews with the engineering, project and procurement. He is the guarantor of the technical choices and the chosen industrial scheme. Its role is to support the growing competence of other services (engineering, quality, sourcing, etc.) and the capitalization of knowledge in their field of expertise. In his position, This welding engineer is expected to strongly support shop floor supervisor / welders, with a strong shop floor attendance.

Essential Responsibilities:

• As a welding engineer in HIN Manufacturing Engineering department, you will:
• Participate in product design reviews, challenge proposed solutions and make innovative proposals. Specify the manufacturing guidelines and generalize the standard practices for the manufacturing department.
• Make sure the global instructions are used and respected
• Attend technical review with suppliers to ensure manufacturability of products by identifying risks and proposing countermeasures to solve them.
• Prepare and teach training modules "welding" to provide the engineering, quality and purchasing.
• Identify potential improvement of fabrication such as automation, mechanization, increase deposition reate and secure weld quality.
• Identify the proper welding process and sequence of assembly to secure the OTD.
• Support hydro workshop by welder teaching, Spot audit, validation of welder qualification,
• Spot Check audit to be performed on shift basis. Check Fit up. Suggestion for the improvement before start of welding, Instruction/Guidance to the Welder for various welding process where deviation is found.In case of deviation - STOP Work.Define/suggest the corrective action Plan & resume work to avoid delay. Review and control/amend if necessary pre-heating and PWHT arrangement.
• Check documentary in its field of expertise.
• Develop new technologies to support the competitiveness of factories.
• Capitalize the feedback.
• Audit of suppliers (in support of SQE)


Engineering degree in mechanic or materials with a specialization in welding, minimum 10 years of welding experience of welded structures of high thickness and large dimensions that require special precautions (preheating, post heating, sizing, etc).
Practical experience of 5 years minimum in workshop mandatory, in order to be used to 'hands on " work, and guidance to relevant corrective actions on the spot in the workshop.

Desired Characteristics

Technical knowledge of non-destructive technic would be an added value. Occasional professional trips have to be expected.
