Position Summary

Reporting directly to the Construction Project Manager, this position is usually site based. Responsibilities include direct contact and overview of the General Contractor to ensure a high level of quality and safety is maintained as required by both Jacobs and our client. Office work would include involvement with the creation and review of both Requests for Information and Requests for Proposal and Change Orders. This at times is a client facing position.

  • The individual is responsible for public sector construction in K-12 facilities / campus environments and technical contractual activities
  • Responsible for field construction efforts and design phase services, as well as participating in most technical, cost, scheduling, and performance decisions
  • A safety leader through example, words, and compliance
  • Oversee construction quality assurance
  • Assist in managing and reviewing the progress of contractors' construction schedules
  • Assist in managing contractors' requests for progress payments
  • Review weekly and monthly reports on the status and progress of the contracts, including project costs and potential changes
  • Report the status of projects to Jacobs business / market leader
  • Attend client program meetings as needed
  • Oversee that all work is performed in accordance with approved manuals and procedures
  • Oversee that the project is constructed and documented in accordance with the contract documents and good engineering practices

  • Bachelor degree in related field is required
  • 3 to 5 years of construction management experience required, with a background in The Education Sector of construction highly preferred
  • Ability to read and understand engineering and construction documents, including construction contracts, construction drawings, specifications, construction schedules, shop drawings, field notices, change orders and requests for information is required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to engage both the client and contractors is required
  • Comfort level with reading Primavera or other scheduling software is preferred
  • MS Office tools comfort level (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is preferred
  • Certified Construction Manager (CCM) is preferred
