Position Summary

Researches, develops, designs, and tests a variety of equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial and industrial purposes.

  • Consults with Lead Engineers on technical issues, manpower and staffing requirements
  • Assists in review and update of Electrical work processes, procedures, technical guidelines, and work instructions
  • Supervises the Electrical engineering and design personnel assigned to a major or several project teams
  • Monitors the engineering and design efforts on projects to assure compliance with Client, Jacobs' and industry standards
  • Assists the Section and Department Managers in performance evaluation of Electrical personnel under his supervision and the recruitment of technical staff
  • Participates in initial project planning with the Electrical Lead Designer
  • Continues development of his personal knowledge, skills and potential, both technical and supervisory
  • Evaluates the desired goal of the system and develops, designs, or selects the required power and controls equipment to achieve the goal
  • Performs calculations and evaluations in the design of equipment and systems for industrial and commercial applications
  • Participates in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling for assigned projects
  • Directs activities to ensure that construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications, recognized codes and standards, and customer requirements
  • Maintains effective communication with project team members and with the customer
  • Has comprehensive understanding of principles, theories, concepts, and industry practices and standards and their application.
  • Accomplishes results through engineering employees within one discipline.
  • Work is reviewed in terms of meeting the organization's objectives and schedules.
  • Responsible for all projects assigned to unit.
  • Frequent contacts with equivalent level managers concerning projects, operational decisions or scheduling requirements.

  • 15+ years of experience required
  • BS or MS in an engineering discipline is required
  • PE license is required
  • 10+ years of experience as a lead engineer
  • 10+ years of oil & gas and/or chemical plant EPC experience
  • 5+ years of lump sum project experience, with 3+ years lump sum lead experience
  • Strong working knowledge and practical application of typical power system configurations and operation.
