EDF Energy is a core part of the EDF Group, one of the largest energy companies in Europe with key business operations in the UK, France, Italy, Belgium and Poland. EDF are recruiting for planning engineers to join the Hinkley Point C project. Main focus will be to establish, develop and maintain project schedules/ plans for aspects and elements of the HPC project.

The HPC project is broken down into a series of Multi-Disciplined Programmes being managed by Multi-Disciplined Teams (MDTs), each of these are supported by a Project Controls Manager (PCM) and a team of PC Engineers, including Schedule Engineers within the typical structure below.

The Schedule Engineer will work within a small team reporting to the Lead Schedule Engineer and is responsible for developing and maintaining resource loaded schedules for specific scopes of work to be included as one of many current schedules representing the construction of HPC.

This role may require supervision of up to 2 direct reports depending on programme area and may also involve cover for the Lead Scheduler and will therefore entail leadership responsibilities.

The Project Controls team is part of the HPC Project team which is leading an ambitious programme to engineer, license, procure, construct and commission two European Pressurised Water Reactors (EPRs) at the HPC site in the UK.

Production and control of schedule baseline, fully logic linked, cost and resource loaded plans for work within the portfolio, utilising approved work breakdown structures and techniques.

Overseeing and ensuring plans are updated to an agreed timeframe.

Adherence to planning and scheduling and project control standards across the project, supporting and cooperating with cost control and risk and change management teams and activities.

Supporting the contract managers and project managers in the production of monthly reports through the provision of intelligent information and analysis.

Co-ordination and production of portfolio reports to a defined reporting cycle.

Producing analysis of trends within the portfolio, generating performance indicators and providing feedback on areas of risk and opportunities.

Analysis and integration of plans provided by contractors and suppliers.

Support the estimating process.

Work in partnership with different sections of the HPC Team in the UK and across EDF in France.

Manage Level 3 Schedules and integration of supplier schedules.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience:

Engineering Degree preferred.

Chartered Engineer/professionally qualified or post-graduate university degree desirable.

Good experience of universally used planning tools.

Significant Scheduling / Project Controls experience on major projects.

Relevant leadership experience qualification.

Technical and Commercial Knowledge and Skills

Proven record of success working scheduling teams.

Must be well versed in modern project management and project controls techniques within a multi-disciplined organisation.

Strong knowledge of Primavera's Enterprise Planning software (P6).

Broad understanding of scheduling methodologies and tools within an enterprise environment.

Good knowledge of engineering design management and the application of Design Authority within a nuclear safety environment.

Results focus tempered with a balanced team/task/individual centred approach.

Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Analytical approach with high level problem solving ability.

Good commercial and financial awareness.

Skilled at interfacing and operating in a large corporate environment.
