In this role, the Software Architect will lead, consult, or manage multiple user experience engagements. You will work on highly complex projects that require in-depth knowledge across multiple specialized user experience domains.

Essential Responsibilities

As the Software Architect, you will:
  • Work with cross business & functional teams in influencing the direction of design & user experience within GE
  • Provide leadership, design guidance, and mentorship to the Tech Solutions UI / UX team
  • Drive excellence in building and delivering user experience designs & solutions across all Tech Solutions teams
  • Collaborate with & directly contribute to user experience design, process, methodologies, and capabilities across cross business UI/UX teams within GE
  • Use Agile / Lean design methodologies to deliver results
  • Lead and contribute effective documentation and communication of design - via wireframes, mockups, and requirements engineering
  • Lead the research and evaluation of emerging design, user experience trends, industry, GIS, SCADA and market trends
  • Review and approve the proposed solutions and provide business requirements prioritization
  • Participate and provide guidance on the project Release Planning, Sprint Planning, Daily Scrum meetings and Sprint Review Meetings
  • Manage product or service vision by managing the Product Backlog and develops, maintains and prioritizes the Product Backlog interacting with stakeholders
  • Participate in reviewing and validating proposed Design and Architecture
  • Provide coding standards and clarify any technical questions to the team


  • Bachelor's Degree in Design or in "STEM" Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) with a minimum of 12 years of technical experience including leadership across disciplines and functions within a product (OR a Master's Degree with 8 years of experience of technical experience including leadership across disciplines and functions within a product OR PhD with 5 years of experience of technical experience including leadership across disciplines and functions within a produc)
  • Minimum of 5 years of Architect OR UX and design experience

  • Uses root cause analysis to identify, correct and/or eliminate the causes of problems as well as the problem itself

  • Identify new opportunities by creating bonds of trust with customers
  • Identify opportunities for necessary changes and actively pursues / leads appropriate changes
