Process specialist (f/m) Lübeck (one year limited contract)
Production and Engineering Generators department
The Generator Production Engineering Department is responsible for development and introduction of manufacturing concepts for new product designs in integrated product development projects. Furthermore the department covers operational disciplines as Engineering Change Management (ECM), Production Data Management (PDM) and production basis documentation and drives process optimization activities to increase production efficiency at the individual sites. The concept selection is based on requirements put forward by the Technical Leads from Generator design, which needs to satisfy the complete value chain from sourcing, through manufacturing, installation, service and decommissioning.

The Specialist (f/m) has a central role with main focus in developing and optimizing manufacturing processes and formalizing them into production basis documentation. He/ she will provide input to manufacturing concept selection in new product development projects and contributes with his technical expertise in the requirement specification phase. In New Products Introduction (NPI) projects the Specialist (f/m) is leading the product and process run- in (prototype built) in close collaboration with the receiving factory project team. Furthermore the Specialist (f/m) supports management as an expert within his area of responsibility and share knowledge in the whole Vestas organization.

Key Responsibilities
Primary tasks are divided within five areas:
  • Technical input and active contribution in manufacturing concept selection and requirement specification
  • Development, validation and formalization of manufacturing processes
  • Technical product and process run- in (NPI)
  • Continuous improvement of operational excellence - Identification of process optimization potentials and structured & aligned implementation
  • Active contribution in / management of strategic initiatives in Generator Production Engineering (GEN PE), as well as on segment / Vestas level (Just add people, Digitalization of Documents, SAP)

Below are typical, but not limited to, daily work tasks as a specialist in Vestas manufacturing:
  • Responsible for overall process solutions for new generator designs
  • Responsible for successful product & process run- in (PT built)
  • Responsible for identifying, documenting, escalating and mitigating technical risks within manufacturing processes and translating them into business risks on segment level
  • Moderation of process risk assessments in the concept selection phase and during prototyping (PFMEA)
  • Responsible for identifying and utilization of the right available technology
  • Responsible for defining and cascading technical process requirements and DFM product-to-process dependencies
  • Accountable for internal and external technical communication with main stakeholders
  • Appointed by TSS/systems owner as super user or member of expert forums within area of responsibility
  • Responsible for protecting Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) of Vestas knowhow and products
  • Be sparring partner and advisor for management and colleagues in the organization
  • Analyze, develop, design and implement approaches to increase simplicity, control and efficiency by at the same time maintaining high level of structure in production basis documentation (Digitalization, Just add people, generic PWIs, ect.)

Qualifications and work experience
  • Bachelor Degree and/or above, major in Mechanical and Electrical Engineering or equivalent
  • In depth knowledge and several years' experience in generator manufacturing strategies and processes
  • Good communication skills in English and German
  • Good level skills on related IT system within the area of employment
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially in Excel. Operational experience with Infor XA and SAP or similar ERP systems
  • Global mindset and cultural sensitivity, experience in dealing with western culture and businesses
  • Proven ability to work independently and in teams
  • Capability of coaching others in daily work and in project
  • Open minded and good at sharing/gathering information within a team
  • Systematic and analytical skills, and knowledge and understanding of the value chain
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, high focusing on quality, precision and good teamwork
