Department Overview

The men and women of Transportation Services work to ensure that the PG&E workforce has the proper vehicles, equipment and aircraft necessary to serve our customers. We are responsible for managing nearly every vehicle and equipment need from design and maintenance to regulatory compliance, rentals and pool vehicles. We are proud to say that we are one of the leading green fleet utilities in the nation.

Position Summary

You are responsible for the supervision of multiple garage facilities, fleet vehicles/equipment, and fleet operations within an assigned area of PG&E's service territory. You ensure that all fleet personnel maintain complete and precise adherence to all PG&E, federal, state, and local regulations, policies, and guidelines. You supervise and administer the maintenance and repair of all fleet vehicles and equipment. You are responsible for promoting and ensuring a clean, healthy, and safe working environment for all personnel. You must be willing to travel and participate in an on-call schedule within your geographic area of responsibility.
Positions will be located in the following California cities:

San Francisco, Oakland, Redding, Chico, San Rafael, Sacramento, Stockton, Fresno, Bakersfield, Manteca, San Jose, and Salinas



- High school diploma or GED
- Must possess a valid California driver's license, or ability to obtain by first day of employment
- 8 years of fleet management, operations, or field experience


- Bachelor's degree desired or equivalent experience
- Fleet certificate i.e. PG&E Transportation Services University (TSU), NAFA CAFM/CAFS, or AWPA CPFP
-Prior experience within utility and construction industries
- Prior management and/or supervisory experience
- Prior experience in managing budgets of $1 million or more
- Prior experience within a union environment desired
- Prior automotive and truck maintenance and repair experience
- Knowledge of fleet management operations and responsibilities
- Ability to manage a safety program
- Ability to improve program efficiency, foster accountability, and take initiative
- Ability to understand, prioritize, and coordinate work on a large and diverse fleet consisting of up to 1200 pieces of equipment.
- Leadership, organizational, and process improvement skills
- Knowledge and experience with team building, motivation, change management, safety management, and project management
- Knowledge and experience with budget planning and management, and business planning
- Knowledge and experience with exempt, non-exempt, and union environment leadership
- Knowledge and experience with performance planning and appraisal, behavior modification, and client focus
- Computer skills


- Responsible for the management and leadership of garage operations within an assigned area of PG&E's service territory.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of plans to achieve on-time and metric performance within an assigned area including preventative maintenance, vehicle safety, and, affordability,
- Interacts with federal, state, and local regulators and agencies.
- Resolves escalated issues regarding garage clients, and vendors.
- Resolves escalated personnel issues and conflicts.
- Promotes and fosters company safety, wellness, and accident prevention programs.
- Ensures a safe working environment for all employees and personnel and minimize and/or eliminate personnel injuries and vehicle incidents.
- Responsible for the management and forecasting the area budget.
- Develops and reviews department metrics, scorecards, and standards to evaluate and maximize garage operations.
- Ensures the accuracy, integrity, and reporting of fleet operations metrics and data within fleet information systems and applications.
- Produce and deliver both and oral and written presentations regarding garage operations for management.
- Partners with directors, other managers, and supervisors to sustain and maximize client services.
-Provides training and feedback to fleet supervisors regarding performance, quality, standards, expectations, and client services.
-Manages, leads, coaches, and develops garage (fleet) operations supervisors
