We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Structural in our Cranberry Township, PA home office.
In this position, a Structural Engineer can expect to be responsible for the following:
  • Perform moderately complex engineering design evaluations and analyses of technical products and services within given discipline/function
  • Implement standards contained in Westinghouse 'Codes of Business Ethics & Conduct.' Ensure that all employees reporting to this position are informed about the standards and related policies, and enforce them within this supervised activity
  • Perform engineering design and analysis, identify problems and propose operational solutions to projects and tasks that are partially defined and moderately complex in nature, requiring knowledge and experience within given disciplines
  • Ensure proper controls are in place and document supporting evaluations and analyses
  • Verify work of other engineers on assignments that range from basic to moderately complex in nature
  • Communicate nature and status of work performed to appropriate Westinghouse management as well as designated customer engineering personnel
  • Participate on project teams with internal and/or external representation. May lead teams on well-defined projects
  • Prepare technical description section for various proposals, including cost benefit studies
  • Propose and initiate test programs and evaluate results
  • Identify and communicate areas for product/service improvements to management personnel
  • Participate in customer and vendor meetings to present technical materials and justification of services and product designs
  • Provide technical guidance, training, and/or direction to other personnel
  • Perform work within established scope, budgetary and schedule requirements
  • Act as primary investigator on minor company sponsored Research and Development programs
  • Identify and assist in development of new business opportunities
  • Will be required to perform any of above responsibilities at U.S. and international customer locations

Job Requirements
The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
  • Practical and some fundamental knowledge of engineering principles and techniques, business unit products and services, industry codes & standards and government regulations
  • GT Strudl expertise is a must
  • MathCAD expertise is a must
  • Steel connection design is a must
  •  Working knowledge of ACI 318 code, AISC ASD and LRFD design specifications, and AWS Structural Welding Codes preferred as well as some knowledge of nuclear related codes ACI 349 and AISC N-690.
  • FEA Analysis tools (ANSYS) is desired, but not required
  • Experience in Architectural/Engineering firms involving project delivery complying with project requirements, quality assurance (QA) requirements, meeting schedules and deadlines
  • Knowledge of ASCE 7, ASCE 4, common ASTM material standards is a plus
  • Engineering degree is a must.  PE license is a plus, but not necessary
  • Experience in the production of project drawings, including supervision, review and approval of concrete and steel drawings
  • Experience in the preparation, review and approval of calculation notes and project specifications to support structural design
  • Must have excellent time-management skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, reporting progress and conflicting priorities to support commitments in a fast-paced environment
  • Typically two to six plus years of applicable engineering experience is required
  • Academic study in applicable discipline may be used to satisfy some experience requirement
