The Power Electronics Lead Test Engineer is responsible for providing engineering skill sets in regards to test execution and delivery of quality test data used for validation of high voltage power electronic equipment. Product focus is mainly on Renewable Energy products such as Wind Converters, Solar Inverters, Wind Pitch systems, Battery Storage, Integrated Energy Storage, and next generation power devices for these products.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Plan, assist in design, construct and lead execution of new product design validation testing for high voltage power electronics equipment, delivering quality data
  • Participate in technical reviews to evaluate new product and agency requirements specifications for completeness and clarity for testing. Provide feedback for constant process and product improvement
  • Design requirements based validation test cases and quality procedures for reuse
  • Ensure all specified test results captured, documented and archived
  • Evaluate to ensure complete test coverage. Document supporting evidence
  • Establish and maintain traceability of requirements to testing results
  • Document defects found and abnormal behaviors
  • Participate in failure analysis, root cause and corrective actions
  • Validate systems to agency requirements


  • BSEE, BSME, BSCS or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience installing, testing, commissioning Power Conversion, Renewable Energy, or Power Conversion products

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Desired Characteristics

  • Hands on experience with electrical power, safety and testing equipment
  • Thorough knowledge of instrumentation to measure temperature, pressure, flow, voltage, current, power etc.
  • Expertise with controls design and/or implementation
  • Experienced in planning, organizing and implementing projects
  • Effective verbal and presentation skills
  • Medium/High Voltage trained with at least 5 years' test experience
  • Expertise, NEC and NFPA-70E code
  • Experience with UL/CSA requirements and certification process
  • Black Belt certified
