The Technical Sales Account Manager / Los Angeles Area will work for GE Water & Process Technologies in our Los Angeles and southern California area. In this role, you will serve as the primary sales and account management representative in the area. The primary industry you will serve will be refineries. This is a customer facing staff role that is responsible for winning business.

Essential Responsibilities

In this role, you will work within a geographic area, be responsible for selling product(s), services, parts, solutions, or projects, and contribute to the sales plan for that region. You will define sales strategy for the targeted clients and have technical knowledge regarding products and systems. You will be responsible for some customization to client conditions and cooperate with (technical) sales support to realize sales. You will lead a department with medium-sized estimated orders. The Technical Sales Account Manager will provide direction and assistance to work groups in order to meet assigned objectives. In this role you will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.

As the Technical Sales Account Manager, you will:

  • Be responsible for growing sales to assigned customers and prospects through the formulation and execution of strategies and plans that capitalize on the customer's and prospects strengths as supplemented by GE's products and services
  • Build customer relationships with the assigned customer for sales
  • Support the assigned customer in sales activities, coordination of GE personnel and technical resources to provide weekly technical services for water and process chemical treatment programs, and provide assistance to the customer in identifying new opportunities
  • Coordinate activities and establish individual sales strategies obtaining appropriate approvals for pricing, and delivery
  • Negotiate contracts as required
  • Maintain knowledge of market trends, competitive actions, product needs, and customer base
  • Make recommendations for continued growth
  • Participate in daily operational meetings to communicate GE activities and prioritize work scope and provide customer with recommendations to improve refinery and power plant reliability
  • Learn and maintain awareness of all customer safety and environmental practices
  • Determine customers' needs and provide effective technical service to resolve issues and inquiries
  • Participate in collecting and testing water and process samples at accounts and analyze results to provide recommendations to improve quality of treatment
  • Serve as technical consultant resource to customers using GE technology to solve identified water and process treatment needs
  • Partner cross functionally within GE to optimize our solutions offering
  • Develop a plan to effectively meet sales targets by meeting or exceeding key metrics for revenue, account retention, profitability


  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university or college (OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in sales)
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in sales or sales related activities
