Department Overview

The men and women of Electric Operations ensure the delivery of safe and reliable electric service to our customers. Electric Operations is responsible for every aspect of PG&E's electric distribution and transmission operations, including planning, engineering, maintenance and construction, asset management, business planning, restoration and emergency response.

Position Summary

The Business Performance Analyst analyzes processes and utilizes six sigma techniques to
develop and recommend operational process improvements. He/She manages cross functional
teams and partners with peers and leaders on process change implementation and ongoing measurement. The incumbent may own ongoing process management or administration. The incumbent also provides business analytics information, including research, data analysis, metric implementation, forecasting, and reporting in support of business decision making, strategy and


• 3 years of relevant business, operational, financial, or process improvement experience
• BA/BS degree in Business, Economics, Finance or relevant degree or equivalent experience

• Advanced/Expert knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint)
• Broad knowledge of different qualitative and quantitative analytical and statistical methods, approaches and tactics
• Advanced reporting knowledge and experience with multiple reporting tools including: Automation of reporting and analysis (Access and Excel, Xcelsius and SAP BI, Micosoft BI stack including PowerView and PowerPivot)
• Ability to work independently and part of a team

• Projects are moderately complex and require selecting methods, approaches and tactics to resolve problems and obtain solutions.
• Applies judgment and standard analysis techniques to solve problems of diverse scope. Typically receives general instructions on new assignments or projects. Receives little instruction on recurring assignments.
• May assist in coaching and developing less experienced staff.
• Plans, performs and implements performance improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma techniques.
• Diagrams and evaluates existing processes. Organizes, leads and facilitates cross-functional project teams. Communicates team progress to manager.
• Develops metrics that provide data for process measurement, indicating future improvement opportunities.
• Determines data needs, collects data, selects from different analytical techniques to conduct root cause analysis and determine issues.
• Collects data to identify root cause of problems. Measures performance against process requirements. Provides consultation on the use of re-engineering techniques to improve process performance. Aligns improvement to performance shortfalls. Surveys and analyzes best practices for techniques and processes. Performs cost and benefit analyses.
