Lead Planning Engineer

A multinational engineering and construction client requires a lead planner to support a defence contract based in Barrow.

Qualifications: Lead and develop the team to achieve their work programme, meeting all performance measures (cost schedule, quality and safety). To support the scheduling of work orders. Lead and develop the team in the resolution of material and scheduling issues that arise from various customer meetings in support of the programme. • To effectively manage resources and activities to meet the development of the programme. • To monitor attendance, timekeeping and coordinate their teams overtime requirements. • Communicate regularly & effectively with the team, management and customer. • To be a facilitator to the team. • Create sound inter and cross functional relationships. • Work within all company and legislative health and safety guidelines. • Take responsibility for the performance management of the team, including performance reviews, in line with the company process. • Prepare required company reports within the business • Use appropriate software and toolsets required for the job role in accordance with current Planning processes. • Lead, develop and motivate any reporting and assigned staff through good communication and honest open management techniques in keeping with company values, policies and procedures • To be conversant with the Quality and HS&E Management Systems, specifically the processes and documentation, training & risk assessments associated with your particular function. To deploy the applicable Quality Management System and HS&E documentation to your team ensuring they have both a thorough understanding of the content, risks and control measures and can ultimately demonstrate their competence to apply them. To exhibit the required company HS&E behaviours and to demonstrate practical HS&E leadership. • Deputise for Management where appropriate. Responsibilities: KEY ATTRIBUTES KNOWLEDGE / TECHNICAL SKILLS recognised skills or academic / professional qualifications Knowledgeable in all activities within their role Understanding of the Planning roles influence within the business To be approachable and demonstrate the ability to listen and manage people HNC or relevant experience Demonstration of Leadership qualities Provide necessary technical advice that supports the acceptance of the planning output by its customer. Experienced user (min3 years ) of Primavera P6 planning software Ability to produce and interpret EVM data produced from Primavera P6 planning software Production of “ what if “ scenarios to support forecasting and change control
