The Operational Buyer is responsible for the procurement of materials and services in support of company operations and management of supplier performance. The scope of role includes day to day activities such as purchase order creation, providing follow-up on executed purchases, coordinating within the departments in the cluster, and leasing with the category managers at corporate level. You would be part of a 12-14 person team with the North America Procurement department.
Chennai Operations as part of Supply Chain Operations ensures the right components are available for the fast growing service business of Vestas. We constantly focus on timely delivery as well as not compromising on Quality. We focus on optimization, by having low Inventory as well as also ensuring timely delivery to the customers. It is a challenging task that is ever changing. The department is operating Globally, so an international experience comes with the job. We are looking for skilled personals who are well structured, well organised and ready to work in a global environment with many Cultural Differences. You need to be able to handle large amount of data, coordinating with various stake holder

  • Timely execution of purchase orders
  • Open order management - order acknowledgement, delivery confirmation, supplier performance
  • May prepare agreements and contracts for special purchases.
  • Work with accounts payable personnel to follow up and ensure timely receipt and proper quality of orders; investigate and resolve problems.
  • Assist in the analysis, evaluation and modification of purchasing methods and procedures.
  • Interacts with suppliers on a daily basis.
  • Performs other duties as required to ensure the success of the Americas SBU.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • APICS or CPIM certification preferred.
  • 3 years of procurement or supply chain management experience.
  • Experience in writing and reviewing purchase orders.
  • Understanding of procurement law and contracts.
  • Understanding of and ability to follow frame agreements.
  • Ability to understand technical drawings and specifications.
  • Experienced in using ERP / MRP systems. SAP Preferred.
  • Very strong Oral and written communication skills required.
  • Good analytical skills and knowledge on buyer roles.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency in MS Word, Excel; MS Access
  • Strong customer focus
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations to drive improvements
  • Strong self-driven approach to daily work
  • Team player with good interpersonal skills
  • Lean & Six Sigma Training preferred
  • Willing to work in complete Night Shifts.
  • Ready to go the Extra Mile to reach the Targets.
