Jacobs is currently seeking a Network Designer to join their dynamic team at their customer site in the Reston, VA area.

The individual will need to have in-depth understanding of networking systems and TCP/IP to include experience in IP Addressing and Subnetting; Network Address Translations; MTU; QoS.

Strong knowledge of Routing and Switching systems (Cisco or Juniper); understanding of Routing Protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, and BGP) and Gateway Redundancy Protocols (HSRP, VRRP, and GLRP).

A working knowledge of STP, VTP and Virtual LANs and Trunking (VLANs); Network Security (ACLs, IPSec Tunnels); SONET, ATM, MPLS, POS, Multicast and how to properly implement these technologies.

Ability to perform (intermediate level) configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of IP network infrastructure (LAN and WAN devices).

Demonstrate the ability to work with customers to determine network requirements, write system requirement documents, and develop design solutions (physical and logical) that are in compliance with best engineering practices, standards, and guidelines.

The ideal person will have experience with the following:

- Network security devices such as Palo Alto FWs, F5 Web Proxy, F5 Load Balancers, Citrix Netscaler, and Cisco WSA (Web Security Appliance).

- Experience with virtual environments VMware (vSphere and vCenter), MS Windows Server 2012(Active Directory), and Linux (CentOS, RHEL 7).

- Experience with Cloud Environments (AWS) Amazon Web Services and/or Microsoft Azure.

- Experience with Network Tools (BBNA, NNMi, Splunk, and Bluecat IPAM).

- Experience with Web Servers (Apache SSL Web Server, MS Internet Information Services (IIS), and PKI Infrastructure)

- Experience with Office ( PowerPoint, Excel, and Word) and network architecture applications (Visio and PowerPoint).

Active TS SCI with Poly Required.


BS degree in a computer or system science discipline from an accredited college or university and eight (8) to twelve (12) years of progressive, relevant experience, or and MS degree in a computer or system science discipline and seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressive experience, or a Ph.D. degree in a computer or system science discipline and two (2) to five (5) years or progressive experience.

Preferred Skills : CCNA - Routing & Switching Experience, Design Experience, Protocol Experience - EIGRP, BGP, and TCP/IP, Firewalls


• CCNP, CCVP, CCSP, CCIP, CCDP, JNCIS or 4 - 10 years of experience in IP network technology.
