Jacobs Technology, Inc's TEIMS Group is a premier provider of process-based systems and software engineering products and services. We focus on innovative solutions for our customers at the Department of Defense (DoD) and other Government organizations.

Jacobs TEIMS is seeking a Software Engineer to provide support to the State of Florida Department of Children and Families project and other internal and external customers as assigned. Coordinates and supports all aspects of the software life cycle from design through development, support and re-engineering.

Duties and Responsibilities will include:
  • Develop projects in accordance with Jacobs TEIMS Organizational Set of Standard Processes (OSSP).

  • Plan, define, design, develop, maintain and document software database projects using Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS), Web tools, Open Source development tools and other tools running in a Linux or Windows environment.

  • Database administrative tasks include queries, triggers, and stored procedures used to respond to public records requests, improve performance, and provide real-time data to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Research and resolve training database issues for individual student records or system-wide updates.

  • Assist in development of proposals, including preparation of estimates for labor, hardware and software.

  • Design forms, reports, databases, web sites and systems as needed to implement requirements

  • Support application documentation including the User's Guides, Training Manuals, Requirements Specifications, Design Documents and Implementation Plans.

  • Oversee testing by software engineers and entry level developers

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree -Computer Science, Information Systems or closely related field; equivalent work experience can be substituted for education.

  • Three (3) years' of specific experience and five (5) years' general work experience.
  • Experience with Oracle RDBMS, Linux, Open Source Systems, SQL*Plus, PL/SQL, Java, JavaScript, and XML required.
  • CMMI training as assigned by supervisor

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Computer background experience in software design, implementation, testing and documentation.
  • Experience with multiple software development tools
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be reliable and committed to completing assigned projects on schedule with minimal supervision.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary - involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and see and hear with or without accommodation.
Work Environment:

Equipment and Machines:

Personal computer (75%), scanner (5%), copy machine (5%), telephone (5%), laser printer (5%), fax machine (2%), and other office equipment including desk supplies.


Full-time regular work hours between Monday-Friday(excluding Saturday & Sunday). Position may require occasional weekend work depending on task requirements. Regular attendance is extremely important, but not critical, except for deadlines and meetings. Must be able to work within the shift hours of 6 am and 6 pm.

Other Essential Functions:
Must be able to secure and maintain a security clearance.

Must pass drug testing.

Must be able to read and write effectively in English.

With the exception of STD/LTD/FMLA & approved time off, attendance is considered essential.

Travel requirements - Minimal travel required.
