Job Description
Siemens Healthcare's Ultrasound business is seeking an individual to join an engineering design team responsible for leading and developing the next generation advanced ultrasound transducers.  As part of the transducer organization, the Transducer Process Engineer will support the process development of medical ultrasound transducers to ensure products meet performance, cost, regulatory, reliability and manufacturability requirements.

The successful candidate will work in a dynamic environment as part of an R&D team developing ultrasound transducers products and advanced technologies. Responsibilities include:

• Develop innovative processes, materials and assembly methods for fabrication of state of the art transducers. Emphasis on piezo-electric single crystal materials directed towards creating high bandwidth, high efficiency arrays for future imaging applications.  Broad background in surface science, materials engineering and precision assembly techniques desired.
• Optimize and document processes for manufacturing; transfer designs and processes to manufacturing personnel.
• Understand, set-up, use and interpret design of experiments (DOE) and statistical process control (SPC).
• Interface very closely with acoustic design engineers, tooling engineers and electrical design engineers to maximize performance both acoustically and thermally by creating new materials/processes/assembly sequences that solve the design challenges.
• Technical responsibility for planning, organizing, and conducting technical projects within the design, fabrication, modification, and evaluation of transducer components and assembly processes.
• Prepare design and process specifications, analyses and recommendations for presentation and approval.
• Provide technical guidance to engineers and engineering technicians.
• Prepare material for ECO release.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:

• BS/MS/PhD degree Material Science, Ceramics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related science
• Knowledge of piezo-electric material properties, including single crystal materials
• Experience in design and fabrication of transducers incorporating piezo-electric single crystal materials
• 5+ years of clean room assembled precision electromechanical device experience most desirable.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong dexterity and ability to envision complex, multi-component structures.
• Ability to adapt to change and work in a rapidly-changing environment
• Knowledge of Six Sigma preferred
