Job Description
The Medium Voltage & Systems Business Unit, located in Raleigh, NC is growing steadily and is seeking highly qualified Application Engineers (AE) for its Motor Control Center & Siebreak business.
Position Overview:
Specific tasks:
• Participates in the design of semi-complex application solutions.
• Manages complex orders to ensure that equipment, cost and delivery objectives are met by responding to customers promptly.
• Supports engineers by keeping records of complex specification costs and price estimates.
• Establish and maintain working relationship with Project Management Group personnel.
• Participates in recommending alternatives or changes to complex customer specifications and/or processes to better match Company products to customer needs and to improve productivity.
• Provide technical quote support to develop and improve sales and channel product knowledge.
• Applies acquired product/equipment/process knowledge to develop quotation.
• Review technical attributes of quotation to ensure proper configuration.
• Designs configurations based on customer requirements, product offering and appropriate standards.
• Consults with appropriate groups in preparation of proposals.
• Prepare explanations to enable proper interpretation/evaluation of specifications, proposals and other technical data.
• Propose specific products and value engineering adaptations with cost-effective results to help meet customer needs.
• Review of commercial, contractual and legal requirements to ensure compliance to business guidelines
• Escalates issues of to drive conclusion to gaps in technical or commercial requirements for offers.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
• Bachelors degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical preferred)
• 2-5 years experience with complex engineered product line
• Power distribution product experience (Motor Control Center preferred)
• Interpersonal skills for complex problem solving
• Ability to comprehend engineering drawings and specifications

Process, Tools, and Methodologies Utilized:
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
• Project tracking
• Accounting methods
• UL, CSA, NEC, and other national codes and standards
• to receive and track work assignments
• COMPAS to prepare technical offers
• NxTools+ to prepare technical offers
• Workstation2k1 to prepare technical offers
• LoA Process to receive pricing approval
