Job Description
Siemens Technical Support Specialist

Position Overview

Siemens Industrial Inc wants to fill new positions in its Mobility Organization in Wilmington, Delaware. Applicants who want to take part in our Siemens Service Department would be responsible for the following main tasks:

• Monitoring and equipment surveillance support for electric locomotives at the service center in Wilmington, DE in a 24/7 shift pattern.
• Support for driving reliability and continuous improvement to minimize down time, and costs.
• ┬áPreventive maintenance practice optimization without compromising safety.
• Collaborate with Product managers, Software engineers and Field Service to monitor and improve maintenance practices.
• Provide real time support to the end users.
• Must be able to work in a 24/7 shift pattern.
• Reports to the Reliability Manager

• Measure and track performance against agreed ┬áreliability targets.
• Perform failure investigations and root cause analysis reports.
• Regular review and update of maintenance practices, impacting documentation and training procedures.
• Provide technical advice and recommendations to the Field Service maintenance teams.
• Support the development of a Continuous Improvement Program.
• Provide advice on modifications and measures which can be implemented to improve component and system reliability.
• Resolves product or service problems by clarifying the customer's complaint; determining the cause of the problem; selecting and explaining the best solution to solve the problem; expediting correction or adjustment; following up to ensure resolution

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

• Position requires a minimum of an associate degree in a technical field, and/or requisite maintenance experience that lends itself to a working knowledge of machines and their operation (railway experience welcome).
• Any appropriate combination of academic and work experience.
• 3-5 years of successful experience in area of responsibility and successful demonstration of Key Responsibilities and Knowledge as presented above. Experience in technical support of Naval Underwater or Surface Ships, mining equipment and vehicles, Buses, Fire Engines, or large complex manufacturing equipment
• Required amount of travel: 10%

• Must demonstrate core competencies of effective communications, listening, and have strong organizational skills.
• Ability to read and understand equipment blueprints and maintenance/operation manuals.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of changing situations.
• Must be computer literate, and have knowledge of computerized maintenance systems, or possess the ability to learn.
• Must possess proven skills with all Microsoft Office Applications (including Excel/Word/Access/PowerPoint), MindManager.
• Must quickly and efficiently learn project specific software programs and online tools

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

• Background or formal training in Quality tools e.g. six sigma.
• Ability to apply Standardization of processes to maximize consistency of output and increase efficiency.
