Job Description
The Sr. Staff Engineer of Ultrasound Transducer Technology is responsible to establish product technical specifications, architecture, and transducer development technology roadmap for advanced ultrasound transducers. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Transducer and Catheter Engineering and will provide technology leadership in the development of next generation of medical ultrasound transducers. As the primary technical leader of the Siemens ultrasound transducer organization, the successful incumbent will collaborate with ultrasound systems engineers and product management team to develop cutting-edge transducer products, to ensure products meet critical functional and business objectives.


• Ensure engineering designs meet performance, cost, regulatory, reliability, serviceability and manufacturability requirements.
• Responsible for the overall transducer common architectural design for the next generation products, and integration to the overall ultrasound system.
• Meet with internal customers to understand customer needs and specify products to meet those requirements
• Drive innovative transducer products through the application of new and existing technology
• Work cross functional within the ultrasound organization to coordinate and promote innovative products
• Work with product management to develop transducer product road map
• Develop and maintain the technology road map for transducer development to support the product strategy in M1 premium transducer segment as well as M3 low cost transducer segment.
• Drive key transducer IPs and develop the overall transducer IP strategy
• Collaborate with Universities to develop breakthrough advanced transducer technologies and diagnostic ultrasound applications
• Lead change through creative solutions to unstructured product and design issues as a Change Agent

Required Qualifications/Requirements
• Bachelor of Science degree in relevant engineering or science discipline including mechanical, electrical, chemical, materials, biomedical, and physics.
• 10+ years of experience in ultrasound medical device products
*Must have demonstrated leadership skills.
• Knowledge of acoustics design, medical imaging, transducers and arrays
• Position requires approximately 15% travel

Desired Qualifications/Requirements
• MS/ PhD. desired in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics/Acoustics, or Biomedical Engineering
• Direct experience in the design and development of medical ultrasound transducer products including but not limited to 1D, 1.5D, 1.75D and 2D arrays.
• Knowledge of beam forming front end experience with design of medical ultrasound imaging transducers.
• Knowledge on medical ultrasound applications and prior ultrasound system design experience.
• Understands the customer and medical ultrasound clinical application
• Demonstrated mentoring and coaching abilities to motivate and inspire others.
• Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal and influencing skills
• Knowledge of Six Sigma Methodology, e.g. DMAIC and / or DFSS
