Job Description
Auxiliary Powerplant Operator
Franklin, GA

Position Overview
Perform all duties related to the monitoring, maintenance and operation of plant auxiliary equipment functions; ensure proper operation of combustion turbine, steam turbine, generator, heat recovery steam generators, water treatment equipment, air pollution control equipment, etc

• Position/configure plant equipment such as, but not limited to: opening and closing of valves, starting/stopping of pumps and compressors, visual inspection of the combustion process. Oil and operated pumps, motors and auxiliary equipment and clean condensers, water filters, and oil filters as required.
• Obtain moderate proficiency in Control Room Operator's duties. Relieve Control Room Operator for short periods of time.
• Test and treat boiler water, cooling water, demineralized water, etc., maintain data logs. Normally works the rotating shift schedule. Perform plant and facility maintenance, cleanup and housekeeping.
• Reads meters and gages or automatic recording devices at specified intervals to verify facility operating conditions and maximize facility efficiency.
• Records operating data and analyzes data for trends.
• Keep Control Room Operator fully informed of unusual conditions or damaged equipment.
• Uses facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals to start, stop, adjust or modify equipment operations to ensure all equipment is operated within the recommended operating range.
• Fully supports the use of a computerized maintenance management system by displaying a proficiency in using the system and dedication to the facility maintenance philosophy.
• Visually inspects and listens to equipment to assist in determining need for repair or adjustment.
• Assist in the maintenance of equipment by cleaning, adjusting, tightening, performing preventative or corrective maintenance, and identifying equipment in need of corrective maintenance. Writes and submits corrective work orders for approval.
• Performs water analysis tests and adjusts chemical injection rates to maintain water chemistry within specifications.
• Reads, understands, and complies with all facility safety and regulatory procedures.

• Must possess a working knowledge of plant systems, normal and emergency procedures, equipment assignments
• Cooperate with and participate as a team member.
• Work hours on a rotating shift basis and assist when needed through overtime or irregular hours.
• Perform duties as outlined for specified \"collateral duties.

Physical Requirements:

1. Moderate to strenuous, 50% of the time
2. Motor functions skills required are walking, standing, stooping, bending, crawling inside turbines or other confined areas, climbing to and working from elevated platforms, ladders, stairwells and walkways at elevations of 80 feet or more, and occasionally lifting a minimum of 10 lbs. or less in awkward positions and 50 lbs. from the floor to the waist.
3. Must be able to use a computer, use mechanic's hand tools
4. Must be able to wear protective equipment (hard hat, gloves, safety glasses and shoes, hearing protection, coveralls, rain suits and self-contained breathing apparatus).
5. Must be able to work at temperature fluctuation depending on indoor or outdoor responsibilities; lighting adequate; clean environment
6. Travel requirements are light (10 to 15%)
7. Exposure to extreme noise levels but hearing protection is provided.
8. Exposure to sulfuric acid, caustic soda and hydrogenous ammonia
