Job Description
Position Overview
Siemens Industry - Factory Automation business unit has an Application Engineer position available. The position serves as the technical lead for regional sales opportunities and provides customers and account representatives with technical product advice and demonstration support during pre-sales discussions. The area of regional support is the Cleveland and northern Ohio area.

• Applies acquired process, product and/or equipment knowledge based on current industry trends, best practices, performance, price and functionality.

• Completes technical product advice for the development and implementation of customer solutions. Prepares and presents detailed technical proposals, including product demonstrations and product prototypes.

• Reviews/analyzes specification costs of installations to determine changes/revisions resulting in lower design/manufacturing costs and increase profitability.

• Proposes specific products and value engineering adaptations with cost-effective results, meeting customer needs.

• Prepares and presents customer needs plan to company teams to assure complete plan is feasible within cost, time, and environment constraints.

• Consults with appropriate groups in preparation of proposals for complex domestic and international installations.

• Prepares explanation to enable proper interpretation and evaluation of specifications, performance characteristics, or other technical data.

• Performs complex hardware and/or software design consultation in accordance with customer/project needs.

• Provides periodic knowledge transfer events with channel partners.

• Provide one-on-one support and assist customers through applications from concept through completion.

Required knowledge/skills, Education, and Experience
An Application Engineer is experienced in automation architectures involving multiple products and technologies and has comprehensive knowledge in architecting complex solutions.

• BS in electrical/computer/mechanical engineering or computer science
