Position Overview

Mechanical engineering position with manufacturing experience in creating process instructions and tool design to translate drawings into manufacturing information. This position is within Generator Rotor Winding and Assembly CoC..

• Work closely with shop floor personnel to troubleshoot issues (tooling, equipment, processes) as they arise. Perform RCA and corrective/preventative actions on manufacturing issues.
• Use SAP, Tool Data Base Management System (TDM) and other IT platforms to develop and improve the manufacturing environment in the Charlotte Generator Department
• Network with cross-functional process owners and power users to create buy-in for change management activities
• Develop annual business project plans to ensure synchronization with the department budget and the ROI plan of work centers
• As a support to the Rotor CoC, assist with the creation of improvement ideas for PRIO savings, CapEx investments, and R&D projects to help the CoC meet objectives
• Create SOP's and process instructions to support operations in the Rotor Winding and Assembly areas.
• Lead shop personnel in the disassembly, repair, and reassembly of both OEM and non-OEM service rotors. This includes trouble shooting, failure analysis, and RCA of both in-process manufacturing and incoming operational issues. Service follow includes design and implementation of tooling and processes to address issues and complete service repair.

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience
• 5+ years of related work experience.
• Bachelors Degree in related field.
• Experience with 2D and 3D drawing software (Pro-E, AutoCad, NX)
• Must have strong background in reading Engineering drawings
• Ability to convert information from Engineering drawings and BOM into clear, sequential process instructions
• Knowledge of tooling selection for hand skilled tasks
• Ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc)
• Experience with interpreting data and make decisions in a production environment
• Experience in developing tooling drawings
• Excellent leadership and communication skills

Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience

• Experience in implementing and/or improving manufacturing processes, information, facilities, and production planning in a shop environment
• Ability to solve complex problems
• Working knowledge and experience within manufacturing operations and demonstrated competence in a production environment leading diverse teams
• Ability to lead / interact with teams to obtain consensus in developing processes and standardizing information flow as required by SAP
