We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Criticality Safety and Measurement Control and Accounting Manager in our Columbia Facility

In this position, a Criticality Safety and Measurement Control and Accounting Manager can expect to be responsible for the following:

Provide leadership in Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) and Material Control and Accounting (MC&A) to ensure fissile materials are processed, stored, and handled safely so that personnel and property are protected against a nuclear criticality accident. Support plant operations by reviewing procedures and proposed plant modifications. Ensure high quality documentation is provided to establish limits and controls to support the NCS and MC&A programs.
  • Provide management and leadership guidance and direction to ensure achievement of department objectives.
  • Direct the administration of cost-effective regulatory operations programs to ensure (1) health and safety protection, consistent with good industry practices, is afforded to employees, the public, and the environment; (2) nuclear materials are properly safeguarded; and (3) all regulatory requirements are met.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the design basis, safety analyses, and operations of plant systems.
  • Ensure MC&A requirements are met for:  item control reports, tamper seal issuance and management, measurement control reports, safeguards procedures, safeguards training programs.
  • Support the Safeguards Coordinator in the conduct of Special Nuclear Material physical inventories.
  • Ensure the development, revision, and reviews of Criticality Safety Evaluations and Calculation Notes in accordance with plant guidelines for both normal and credible abnormal conditions.
  • Help establish normal and credible abnormal conditions in cooperation with engineering and operations staff through the use of hazard analyses.
  • Provide specific NCS/MC&A professional interpretations and advice.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert to support operations.
  • Mentor NCS/MC&A Engineers.

Job Requirements
The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
  • Education Bachelors of Science in engineering or physics from an accredited university
  • Experience 10+ years in NCS at a Nuclear Regulatory Commission or Department of Energy licensed facility
  • Proficiency in SCALE (KENO) and MCNP
