We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Quality Engineer in our Quality organization with the position being located in Windsor, CT.
In this position, a Sr. Quality Engineer can expect to be responsible for the following:
  • Develop and implement Quality policies and procedures in accordance with customer requirements, applicable standards, and government regulations to ensure compliance with such programs at Product Line locations, customer sites and supplier facilities.
  • Identify and direct corrective actions for successful resolution of significant product and quality issues.
  • Communicate changes in Product Line and departmental QA procedures, plans and programs; and conduct ongoing education, orientation, training and certification programs for appropriate personnel.
  • Plan and conduct surveillance activities of supplier quality programs and processes to ensure compliance with applicable QA codes/standards and applicable product requirements.
  • Conduct close tolerance inspections with inspection equipment like gauges, calipers, micrometers, and comparators.
  • Plan and oversee training of group members
  • Determine product compliance with all specified drawings, specifications, and other requirements by inspection and/or review of supplied inspection and test documentation.
  • Follow engineering actions to resolve issues identified and evaluate the adequacy of proposed corrective actions to ensure compliance with applicable QA codes/standards.
  • Represent Westinghouse and provide input during external QA audits conducted by customers, government agencies, etc.
  • Review deviation notices, proposals, purchase order requisitions, quality plans, inspection records, NDE procedures, and other documentation to verify compliance with technical QA requirements for the design and manufacture of nuclear fuel components and assemblies.
  • Identify and report deviations which could create safety hazards or malfunctions and return associated documentation to design engineering or to higher level QA personnel with recommended solutions.
  • Understand nuclear Commercial Grade Dedication requirements and oversee related activities at suppliers
  • Understand and promote development of a Healthy Nuclear Safety environment both within the group and within the supply base.

Job Requirements
The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:
  • Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline, technical area or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of applicable professional experience in a nuclear or similarly regulated environment is required.
  • Knowledge of US NRC Regulations such as 10CFR50 Appendix B and 10CFR21; and national consensus standards of quality assurance, such as, ASME B&PV Code, ISO, ANSI ASME NQA1 and Appendices.
  • Knowledge of welding processes and Non-destructive Examination (NDE) methods and regulations.
  • Ability to interpret design drawings including comprehension of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Strong computer skills including office software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project).
